Klipsch Icon KF-28

So Best Buy will have these for $224 (50% off) on Black Friday. I've been wanting to upgrade my speakers for a long time and was wondering what people thought about these seeing as they are made specifically for Best Buy so I'm not sure on the quality vs their non-big box models. At that price can I even go wrong?

FYI, my current speakers are B&W DM302 so they are something like 14 years old. They were a nice hand me down from a friend when I bought my Denon 4308CI. I had decided to spend my entire budget on the receiver and then come back and slowly upgrade the speakers.

Also, if you know of any other good deals on speakers, let me know too

Btw, I was also checking around and found a pair of used RF-3 for $500 and an RC-52 for $200 both within driving distance. So those are also another option. Just not sure how they would pair up.

Thanks,
Adrian

Icon is the lower end model, I would stay with the b&w their nice speakers. I do love klipsch some don't and hate the horns just depends on your setup.I would try to stay in the Reference line rf 62 II and up are nice choices. However I don't know your budget or setup or what you are wanting out of these speakers. I have the RC 52 II center and the RF 82 II floor standing speakers. I really like my setup sounds decent, klipsch is nice because it takes little power to make them really scream, that can be bad or good. Good luck

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I have a pair of B&W DM308's, and I'm considering replacing them with the Klipsh KF28 with the black friday deal.

The thing is, I have no idea how my DM308's really sound. They are currently being fed an RCA signal through an equally old Marantz receiver, so I am doubting that I know their true potential.

I'll be picking up an Onkyo TXNR709 next week, so I'm hoping that combined with an HDMI source will really allow the DM308's to shine. If they don't, then I guess I'll have to consider the KF28's.

I do think the KF28s look a little shabby and lower end. Being a Best Buy exclusive makes me second guess their worth, even at $225 each. Granted, I haven't heard them before.

I'm also considering the Jamo S606 speaker set (only because I see it constantly being recommended on this forum), which is in the same price range, but also includes the center and satellites.

Does anyone have any opinions on the KF28 vs Jamo S606, or know of any other other comparable speakers in the same price range?

does anyone know what type of receiver would be okay with the KF28's?

There is a Klipsch owner's thread. You might ask your questions there. They know all about Klipsch, and since Klipsch owns Jamo they might now a little about them too.

I can say one thing.... KF-28 these speakers are awsome... they sound GREAT in my basement. I have a mid 70's Onkyo AM/FM receiver pushing um n they sound GREAT... I am going to get a new receiver here n a fue weeks. But I LOVE the sound from these speakers n cant wait to hear true 5.1 with the KC center too...
