What I am trying to do is set up an IP based remote control system throughout my house. I have purchased several Global Cache iTach devices (both IP2IR and IP2SL) and have only managed to get the IP2IR types working. I am struggling with all of my rs232 connections.
I would really appreciate some guidance on testing the serial connections.
I know the devices are online since I can view them on through iHelp and they have their assigned IP addesses. I have also ensured the settings for the data rates are correct (i.e. for my Denon AVR-2310CI receiver the communication format is:
What I am unable to do is figure out a way to test these devices by sending commands that control their functions.
Synchronous system : Tone step synchronization
Communication system : A half duplex
Communication speed : 9600bps
Character length : 8 bits
Parity control : None
Start bit : 1 bit
Stop bit : 1 bit
Communication procedure : Non procedural
Communication data length : 135 bytes (maximum)
I have a Nuvo Grand Concerto, a Mitsubishi HC6800 Projector, and a Denon AVR-2310CI reciver that I want to us rs232 (serial) control for.
Any guidance and help would be greatly appreciated as I am getting more and more lost trying to figure out HyperTerminal/PuTTY/TelNet etc.
