Playback issues in WMC

I'm totally confused here guys. I can't seem to get bitstreaming to work anymore. I swear I thought I had it working just fine after installing my new RadeonHD 5450 video card, but we just tried to watch Transformers 3 last night and I was getting errors as soon as I tried to run the mkv. If I turn off bitstreaming in the Shark settings interface, my files seem to play just fine. However, if I turn on bitstreaming all hell breaks loose. Can someone please explain some things for me? Shark doesn't do a good enough job of explaining the difference between a lot of settings. Firstly, I only rip my blu-rays into mkv format because it seems to be the easiest. So the first setting a look at is the mkv splitter. I've tried all 3 (Haali, Gabest, and LAV). Is one better than the others? After the computer uses the splitter, I'm confused as to what happens. Which codec handles the video and which handles the audio?

At the risk of sounding like more of an idiot, I'm going to stop here and see where the conversation goes.

Please help.

Use current releases. New releases contain newer codec versions and applicable settings.
here are Downloads links: x64Components addon _______ 32bit Win7codecs (upgrade installations are discouraged)

If you already had the current releases installed, press [Reset All]
After installation or use of [Reset All], select the [x] SUGGESTED settings checkbox

To bitstream audio, click the button on the Audio TAB [setup LAV audio] and select the checkboxes to enable bitsteaming.

Codecs used after the splitter depend on content. Since you state that the content is BD rips that is either H264 or (W)VC1 (for video)
On the H264 TAB are codec selections (defaulting to LAV) and for WVC1 content, the suggested settings setup FFDshow on the SWAP TAB

As for audio, you are bitstreaming. That means nothing is being decoded on the PC, the signal is sent to the AVR for decoding.
