you got a great set, who the F cares if someone else is jealous of your purchase. Enjoy it

THanks. I am usually very appreciative of this community and already posting my observations and issues (like the 0-255 not working in game mode etc) to "give back"

Best buy made $700 or so minusnthe blu ray player. Not bad for them since they need to move product .

what people have to realize is some bb stores are more progressive than others. In other words, they will deal............ they are having their butts handed to them right now so I suspect more and more will be in the mood to deal

Yeah...their CEO quit (probably to avoid getting fired). Financially, they're in deep do do.

My understanding is that some stores are located in areas where if they were going to try to get full retail, they would never sell any and the managers are bright enought to know this. They cut the price to make the sale vs. the sale going to a competitor. Other stores can get closer to full retail and won't deal.

Wow, I wonder how cheap you could get a 60" floor model?

I've had it quoted to me at $4000 elsewhere (and $6000 for the 70") so I certainly wouldn't pay anywhere near that for a floor model...

Am contemplating a low ball offer for the 70" at my local BB, a real pos location that doesn't have the 90" and isn't getting one. They've had the 70" Elite in their Magnolia for a looooong time. As soon as newer models are announced I'm going to try.
Are you saying $4000 for a New 60"? I wonder if BB would take $3200 for a floor model?

Yup. If you bang on guys like Chris at CP or Robert at VE long enough they will cave and sell you one at or very very near that price.

I have actually read this entire thread. Why don't you point out that post where you claim BB cost is $4400 for the 70"? I certainly could have missed it. What I will say is I have a connection in the business who gets me items at wholesale from the distributor. Perhaps BB gets a better deal than other vendors, but the wholesale quote I got was above $5199. Not by much, but above that for sure. My connection is a close relative, so I am certain about the prices I am being quoted not being inflated.

I made the post and its in the mail elite thread..My friend is a managet at BB and showed me the pricing screens.
Its been confirmed by other Bob employess

Can you link to the exact post please? The main elite thread has over 10,000 posts. It was most certainly not posted here in the 8 page Elite pricing thread.
I am waiting on clearance prices for these sets and if a 80 or 90 in. will be made. Also with 5 major companies releasing 4K sets very soon Elite better jump on the bandwagon especially at the prices they are asking for.
For sure these sets will be EOL'd in the coming months, replaced by something better, but I'm not sure how much pricing will adjust from here on new models. Currently, the best full array back lit sets are street priced in a seemingly orderly and 'sensible' manner:

Roughly $4000 for the elite 60", roughly $5000 for the Sony hx950 65", and roughly $6000 for the elite 70".

All those 84" 4K sets are coming at stratospheric prices and the 75" Samsung edge lit set is at $9k (!) so I'm not sure how much competitive pressure there is from either 4K sets or 1080p sets of comparable size and quality.

Anyway, my problem is that I want the best but at 1/2 the price biggrin.gif
post #223 of 566
Ya, Samsung is crazy with that price on the 75" for an edge lit unit.
A company on Ebay was selling 10 of the new 75" Samsungs for $3899 + $80 shipping. He was not an authorized dealer, but the price probably more accurately reflects the market value. However, they sold out quickly.

I've been bouncing back and forth between this unit and the VT50. I don't care what anyone says, the Elite blows the VT out of the water in everyday viewing circumstances and HD cable programming. I got the price of the Elite down to 5500 at Best Buy and close to that with the two big online dealers that everyone loves here. One is getting his TV's from rejected shipments from BB distributors and expects you to believe a story about a secret deal that he has. I almost pissed myself. I found out from others that they were also told the big secret, so I guess it's not a secret, is it? Anyway, I've just about had it with this used car experience. Everyone has their own angle and at the end of the day, it's just a TV! If it works great and looks new, who cares where it comes from? The bottom line is what you paid for it. Many people tell me that if your TV doesn't break in the first month that you have it, chances are that it's not going to break and that's why they sell all these warranties - because it's making them money not helping us. So now I'm pondering buying the Elite from the NYPowerseller for $4400, tacking on a 1 year warranty and calling it a day. I can't stomach shelling out more than 5k for a TV. Do I really need a replacement TV if something goes wrong like dead pixels or can that just be fixed? Thoughts?

edit- I made a mistake here, Powerseller is only selling the 60" at the price. I guess the best I can do here is 5500 at this time so I'm going to wait I think.

Coming months means what exactly? I was told Sharp would announce new sets in August its now September and no news. I am waiting to see if a 80 elite comes to fruition.
70inches is nice but 80"' would "make my day"

I was hoping so, but that just seems better than BB will typically do.

Absolutely 100% positive it was the 70".
Actual price was 5099.99 for the TV and .01 for the calibration. Thank you little baby Jesus!

Unfortunately I was expecting it "now" but it seems as though Sharp is going to hold out until CES, perhaps to get on the same cycle as all the other mfrs. I guess a surprise bt now and then is possible.

NTstambo: I know it's a lot to ask but can you scan your receipt and email it to me? If so let me know and I will PM you my email address. I live near that BB in Danbury and would love them to match that price for the $70"!

TIA.

so who has the current lowest price on the 60" Elite?...still Cleveland Plasma?

the new Sony HX950 also looks interesting depending on what flaws the experts find with it

Both you and Suzook are incorrect on the cost of this panel.

I live in the north east as well and didn't believe the price from Nstambo (the price I got on mine was much more with a bundle deal) as I shop at the Danbury BBY as well (I used to shop at the one in Trumbull but that manager went to Danbury), so I went and asked him about the price and he actually remembered it, so I would say that particular BBY probably has Cleveland beat.

the price quoted a few posts back was for the 70" Elite...how much is that store selling the 60" Elite for?

I think the reality is that different vendors get different wholesale prices. My vendor had to get the set from a distributor in Philadelphia. He actually had to apply to Sharp to be able to sell the Elite, and he had to purchase 2 sets (at least for his first order). BB is most assuredly getting the set for less than my vendor.
All I can say is that you won't be able to get these Elite prices mentioned in this thread in SoCal Best Buy stores. I've tried many stores... They don't even care about the fact that I've shown them the receipt from one of the buyers here.
buying from Best Buy negates any potential savings because they charge sales tax
