Sharp Elite Prices - Page 11

Taxes were on top of the price and the rate is the one in your county / state. Call the BB mentioned above and talk to those folks, they are great to deal with and whatever the reason is, this is the best TV out right now, and on Amazon some guy just bought it for 7200 and because your eyeballs were glued to this screen instead you can have it for 5300or so if they have it in a warehouse near you.

Cleveland is out of 70s so that's that for now.

As far as the next best thing, it is perfectly human to always want something better. Personal circumstance may be more important. In my case I already built the case for a 70 Sharp, I was going to get the 732, then the 735 then the 847. Shipping was difficult for all retailers to my location and I got lucky (I feel) that three orders for a 733 were rejected. It made me look again and I found the Panny plasmas but they don;t work at 9100', that's when i saw the Elite. Way out of my price range but the best 70" TV ever? Wow I have to have that because in my place I will do this once and I'll have it a long long time 4k 8k or 16k does not matter, my eyes are going to be very happy.

So find you personal happiness level for a TV. Stick with it for a while, put the money you would have spent aside in a brokerage account, then four five years from now you'll be in great shape to buy the best of the best and do it without remorse. Don't go in debt for a TV, do it with cash. Don't have it don't buy it. You won't have as much remorse. Of course, either way that 6k could have been in your kids college fund....

The shipping still was an issue and I have to drive 5 hours to go pick it up. But they have great mountain biking trails there and I'll make a nice day of it.

At this rate the 70's will be completely out of stock soon. Sharp and BB could both bust and these might be the only ones ever made. Never to be bested and four years from now we'll be talking about the Elites like we did about the hard to find Kuro before the Elite came out. They could make a 4k and still the 1080 Elite could be better on the eyes due to black levels, etc. More pixels is not always a better image. I am obviously defending my purchase here psychologically speaking.
Can you still get it for $5100 if you go to the store, or is there no benefit of actually going there?
They no longer do $5100. They sell it for $5300. You can just order via phone.

So they stop making these, I haven't been up on the Sharp Elite news of lately, no new models coming down the line? Too bad if that's the case, it never fails me to amaze me how the majority is perfectly fine with mediocrity. And yes I know how pricey these are for Joe six pack, but I would think these would start a revolution thus the prices would get lower something down the road.

I did get my $5299 priced matched to the CT store (I am in Chicago, downtown North Avenue) last night to 5099. Nice. Makes me feel a little better.

Btw, I have to say despite the money I am shocked as to how little buyers remorse I have.... it is really stunning and feels worht the money. Just hard to complain with self-calibration.... (will do professional next month)

HDTV/Blu-rays/Games... just stunning when coming from a DLP or cheaper edge lit LCD

I am glad to hear it. I am picking mine up on Friday (late) and I can't wait for Saturday, the blu ray DVDs are already in the mail. I am coming from a six yr old 720p 32". It is going to blow me away.

Djoel, I did not say they are going to stop making these. Just speculating, read carefully. Also note that the Kuro did not start a revolution and yet it was as good (just smaller at 60") then the Elite and it came out in 08 or so. I am not quite Joe 6pack, despite my 6 pack abs at age 52, but that is another story (ironman athlete...). I am just calling it good on what I own and am happy to have what I have. The point was that always chasing the ultra best thing is not the most important thing in life. True hapiness comes from accepting that you are happy with what you have.smile.gif

Got- cha, didn't mean much by my comment, I just thought they were phasing these out!

Congrats on you new Elite.

Hey Guys,
I'm confused about the "Great Found Deals" threads. Am I allowed to post that I am selling something in these threads, as long as it is relevant to the respective thread? Thanks. Dan

Geickel,

I'm pretty sure that the moderators want individual sales to be listed in the classified section of the forum.

I live in Ohio and JUST received a quote of $5100 from Best Buy (Danbury, CT) on the 70" Elite.

p.s. 36 months no interest financing with Best Buy card and free shipping as well.

I wanted to, very badly wink.gif But my wife was the voice of reason and convinced me to keep our JVC RS45 projector. As a side note, I was told by the Magnolia rep that new, larger Sharp Elites are being released in the spring.

Did they offer any details? I'd like to hear that there's something in the works.

I dont mean to throw cold water on this but a rep at a Magnolia store "knowing" about this seemingly before the rest of the world............... I will leave it at that.
According to the Rep I spoke with at CEDIA.... " There may be something new coming out ." Whatever that means!
It means "If we stay in business we'll put out new stuff. Someday. And price it high."

Yup. If you bang on guys like Chris at CP or Robert at VE long enough they will cave and sell you one at or very very near that price.

Not hating, everyone wants a deal, myself included. I'm just glad I'm not trying to make a living selling a/v equipment during the internet slick wallet price match the customer is always right age.

great deal on 60" - $3700 - have to go pick it up, but ok by me. Seems like they are running out of stock.......question is - do I go for the service plan or not?? opinions on that? i'm talking BB here....
elanalynne,

Say in 3 years, the display develops a problem that can't be fixed for whatever reason. With BB, they'll give you a free set.

Some of these warranties will only refund you the cost of the warranty.

She said they are discounting the current Sharp Elites as they were told new models were releasing spring/summer 2013. Honestly, that didn't help to sell me on the current Elite wink.gif I'm willing to wait and see. Worst case, I have a killer projector setup already.
I just called Danbury and they said I need someones order number to prove they sold it 5100 and then they would price match and order it for me. Can anybody help me out?

new models or just larger sized versions of the current Elite's I wonder...hopefully the former...even with the discounted pricing the pulsing and color issues that plague the current sets are troublesome

Anything said about wiring funds to Nigeria? smile.gif

Sounds like too good a deal. Be careful.
No it's a real deal seen the set used the set. Can't get the set because seller needs gone today and can't pick it up. Easy come easy go!

Some of these warranties will only refund you the cost of the warranty.

Before you consider purchasing the BB extended warranty, make sure you read the fine print first.
Usually, your electronics appliance must have shown the same defect three times before they consider replacing the set.
Not just three total defects, but three of the same defect.

At their discretion, they may replace the set with the same or something of equal value to the price you paid for the set, but that would be dependent on the claims supervisor who oversees your case.

Other warranties (thinking Costco ST here), will service your appliance up to three times for the same defect before writing you a check for the remaining value of your appliance after deducting the cost of the three service calls.

Again, at their discretion they may opt to pay you earlier should they so choose.

Biggest difference is BB warranties cost an arm and a leg to cover you for four years, the Costco ST warranty is $99 plus taxes to cover the price you paid over the manufacturer's warranty(typically one year) plus 3 years afterwards.

They will both send a repair person to your home when you need it.

Yes, it's more convenient if your TV is a lemon, BB will come and take the old one, ST will probably say keep it and write you a check.

Up to you to decide if that is worth the extra $$$ BB is asking for their warranty.

If I'm mistaken here, may it please the other forum members to correct me.

Good luck to you.
