Sharp Elite Prices - Page 15

Went to BB in Houston today and they have two 70" Elite floor models available for $5k.

Really out of my budget, but I'm super tempted.

Between this and the Sharp Le844u

Best Buy has 24 month interest free financing...if that's an option.

I've had the LE844u, no comparison in PQ, the Elite is MUCH better.

My local BB offered me a 60" floor model Elite for $3700 today with full factory warranty and the new 15 day return policy. Has anyone bought a 60" for less?

I agree ....some people can get some good deals. My local best buy had 1 but someone snag it before i could even see the sale price lol.
I would like to get 1 of the 70 inch at a decent price if possible......................

FYI

This BB located in NJ, had 2 60 floor models a week ago, not sure of the price. You could always call, and see if they have them, and what the price is. If its good, I'm sure they would shipped the unit to your local BB. # is below, just ask for the magnolia section.

My local dealer claims that he has 3 left and if I pay with check he can get me a band new one (70") for $6350. He is going to call the warehouse on Monday and call me if he still has them.
Should I pull the trigger if he has one?

Well, after months thinking about getting an Elite to replace my Pioneer Elite 110FD (8G Kuro), I just happened to be in my local BB and decided to check in Magnolia to see the Elite. I was surprised to no longer see it front and center as it had been in the past. Instead, I found an open box 60" off on the side marked at just over $3700! I was shocked (I haven't been looking that closely in recent months). I talked with someone there for a while and decided to mull it over....for about 6 hours. I went back, worked with the same guy and got it out the door for $3500 plus tax. I did get the 4 year service plan after doing some quick reading on the threads here (I usually ignore the warranties/service plans offered by BB). They were running a special which offered a free cal (yes, I know, BB/GS cals are generally considered to be total junk). However, they were unable to figure out exactly how to get the cal to be free, so they charged my for it and reduced the price of the set even further to compensate. I'm now wondering if I can decide to "decline" the cal, and get the separate line item for the cal refunded

Got into the service menu in the store - panel has about 500 hrs on it, so not too bad. No visible problems with the display, and no scratches. No manual and no stand, so I'll have to buy one - probably on FleaBay (none listed in the AVS classifieds). They also don't have the included glasses (I don't really care), but they said they'll give me some of the Sharp glasses which will be compatible.

Once I go and get it (waiting until I get the stand), I'll probably sell the 110FD to offset part of the cost of the newest Elite in my family It still works absolutely perfectly. If it weren't for the fact that it doubles as a space heater and summer is coming (high electric bills due to A/C counteracting the 110FD in SoCal), I'd probably never have considered replacing it until it died.

My guess they are probably a November build and Im worried it will have issues reported on this site. He said if they do have them that they will unbox it so that I can look it over before delivery/purchase. Is there a blu-ray that I can play or other tests that will show me if this one has any of the reported issues?

Check online for the open box stock at your local BB's. Several around here have the 70" at just about 6k even. One is as low as 5.5k and listed as "Excellent - Like new with no scratches, dents or missing parts"

Just some advice on guaging the price ~5000 is what an employee gets the 70" brand new for. So ~5000 is near cost of tv.

So do you guys think I should pull the trigger? They called me and they have one available. Of course I'm going to bring my slides with me before purchasing it. He does need $500 bucks up front from me to ship it in to the showroom.

I would see if you can get it closer to 4.5-5k. Can't hurt to ask.

Ya I got him down to $6240... big deal. Thinking about pulling the trigger. He wants $500 to get it ordered from the warehouse to the show room. Do you think its too much to say that I will do the deal and if for any reason whats soever I am not 100% satisfied after running a few slides that I am not obligated to purchase the unit and get my $500 refunded?

Can I fit a 70" in my 2013 subsru forester? Or do I need a truck?

It would be close, I bought mine home in a 2012 Outback, and it made it.

The width of your trunk opening is 44" and your height is 34.5 My Outback width is 44.5" & height is 34"

With your seats down, and some finagling, it SHOULD fit.

$5500 for a open box. Should I bite? What added warranty should I get? Also, what should I look for as far as defects or things of that nature? How do I see how many hours of run time its had? I hate to throw down $5500 on a used/open box item but I think it's worth it..... Right? Please help me out here guys, I'm at work and plan to pickup at 5pm (two ours away). Thanks!

I would think you could get it for lower, check the build date, some report the Nov 2012 units had some issues.

They really want to sell it, they don't want it sitting around. LED are rated for about 100,000 hrs, so wouldn't worry to much about that.

Not worth the risk. What dealer wouldn't give you free delivery when buying that TV?

What is considered s "good" build date? Month/year? Also, now I am reading about people getting this set for between 4k and $4800. Am I paying too much at $5250, sounds like it doesn't it? At least I have a 15 day return window if they don't want to budge on price anymore for me. That's a $1250 difference :/

Mine was a floor model, it’s a August 2011 build, paid about 3600, in NJ.

It has no issues, I never checked the amount of hours(don't care).

Nov 2012 are the only sets that I read about with some issues, read the official thread.

What is your build date, you can tell from your serial #
