Just ordered my 60" Elite from Cleveland Plasma.

Anyone see any post Christmas price movement?

It should be interesting after CES starts - think that's Jan.10 - especially if there's a new improved 60-70 announced.

Best Buy's advertised price is still the same as before yesterday.

all i can say is if you look, you should be at 4k for 60" and 6k for the 70"..

The BB web site shows MSRP. If you go in the store you will see the price is lower than what their web site shows. I think maybe Sharp is enforcing a MAP on retailers?

Sorry that's what I meant. I was in the store yesterday, and the in-store advertised price (about 10% off MSRP) is the same as the week before Christmas.

What Chris may be reflecting is that there have been no decreases in the prices he pays for the 2 Elite models.. Thus, there is nothing to pass along.

that's true...the biggest deals on high end TV's usually come during late January/early February

I just checked Amazon and even their prices on the Elite (sold by 3rd party resellers) have dropped to the $4800 mark...looks like prices are dropping but not as fast as I would like

hopefully the 60" model will get around $3500 by February


can you post where you saw the 60" for 4K?...or PM me...is it a reputable place?

My 70" arrived yesterday from BB. I used the phone number above (its a BB store), spoke to Chad, $5900 + tax, 36 months no interest with BB card, and reward points. I'm very happy.

I did try a local BB, but they were not even remotely interested going from their price of $6999 to $5900.

When I called Jon, from the previous post, he was tied up and another sales person named Chad was aware of the deal Jon was offering, and the order was placed in about 10 minutes over the phone. I got an email from BB within 15 minutes confirming the purchase.

It sounded like it was shipped from a BB warehouse - but I could'nt be sure. we did arrange the shipping date on the initial phone call.

I've had the TV for 3 days now, and I am more pleased every day. I LOVE the size of the 70". My kids watched Cars 2 in 3D today and the DirecTV looks great. As I said before, I'm very happy.

how is that one Best Buy store in Indiana able to sell the Elite for so much cheaper then every other Best Buy?...each Best Buy store is not independent where they set their own prices...the prices are supposed to be the same across the board

is the set refurbished?...store display?...something just sounds too good to be true

The explaination we got on one of the other forums is that each store manager has the flexibility to adjust prices for their market. In a market where at the higher price, they wouldn't sell any, they can reduce the price to where they can sell some as long as there is a profit in it. From what we learned early on, there is a pretty good retail profit on the Elites. Even without Sharp dropping the wholesale prices, retailers can come down quite a bit. It all depends on the store and in the case of BB how willing the store manager is in negotiating.

To add a fine point to this, as much as we like to get deals on our electronics, especially the more expensive ones, there is a lot to be said to calling a national company and telling them to come get this one and bring another. Worst that can happen is to return it in 60 days and get a refund. With a first generation set that seems to vary a lot depending on which one you get, that should be factored into your buying decision.

I have proof that that is not the case.

About 10 years ago I purchased Sonus Faber speaker system and a Pioneer Elite receiver at Best Buy, my local store (about 3 miles away) wouldn't budge on the price so for the $;:& of it drove 30 miles to another BB store - they gave me a deal where I saved about 1000 bucks.
Went back to local store they still wouldn't match it, needless to say I went with the 30 mile away store - still have the speakers!

They delivered them AND set everything up - go figure.

The 70" I got was new, but the box was opened, but the delivery crew said they open all TVs before delivery if inspect the screens for damage. I did not have them unpack it - I did.

There is no doubt that this was a brand new and never used TV.

I am fairly sure this particular BB is price matching some other store - but you will have to ask them.

I too was able to take advantage of this deal and the set (70" Elite) was new and in perfect condition. They [best buy mentioned above] were much nicer and easier to deal with than any of my local stores to the point that if I ever have any other higher priced item that needs to get shipped to me I will call and order from them. There really was no difference in the transaction when compared to my local BB other than the number I called (and the service I received).

I got mine at my local Best Buy for the same price early November. I wonder if other Best Buys can see what other stores have sold it for.

Just in case anyone is wondering, the store in IN can no longer sell the 70" for $5900 shipped. I tried today...

I would hold out and see what comes to CES with the new OLED TV's! I would not drop 6K on a TV when it could be obsolete in 2 years!

Even if that LG OLED is ready for consumers, it will likely cost 2X what the Sharp Elite does, so not really an option for most.

did Best Buy corporate find out about this deal in the Indiana store and put the kabosh on it?

Probably - embarrassed the local BB stores that can sell this at a higher price for a few more weeks - may change after CES and Superbowl. Would expect price for 70 to be below 5900 very soon.

I spoke with John, and he said when he called Sharp they told him he couldn't sell it for that price.
