Black Friday deals. Which one?

Black Friday is fast approaching and the wife wants a new TV, 55" plus for the bedroom.

We currently have 2 plasmas, a fifth generation 42" Panasonic plasma from 2002, and a 60" Pioneer plasma from 2005.

Here is my list to choose from which includes LED and LCD models although I am leaning toward plasma since I hear that there is ghosting (still) on LCD TVs in this price range.

Thoughts?

This will probably get moved to the "deals" subforum...

From that list, I'm about to pull the trigger on a 55" ST30. No need to wait until Friday - you can get that price right now at Amazon or Sears.

I read on the dedicated Panny ST30 thread that Target has the 55ST30 for less than 1K. I'm on hold now with them.

If this is true.....SOLD!!

But you can also see what you're buying, and examine it, before you buy. That may be worth the extra cost. Deals around this time of year are not always what they seem. Some analysts are even saying that there may be better deals this year about 2 weeks before Christmas. Caveat emptor.

Is Amazon's $1458 a good price for the GT30 as well?

Edit: guess not, it's $1299 + tax from Panasonic EPP website

I'm in Oregon (no sales tax) and my local Sears had them in stock (no shipping)...but yeah, that's true for most people.

Where did you find these "experts" online? I hope this is true since I'm considering a 42ST30 for a bedroom, but nowhere have I found it for well under $600 yet. Although, the 50GT30 at Best Buy for $999.00 is tempting!
