Amazon Prime Instant on Windows Media Center or Media Browser?

I'm prepping to build a HTPC and am trying things out on my current PCs to make sure I can get everything to work. I want to use Media Browser and Windows Media Center to run everything. A big issue I am having is figuring out how to get streaming to work within those programs. Specifically, Amazon Prime streaming. I can't seem to find a way to launch Amazon Prime and search it from within the WMC interface. Also, how do you integrate other streaming sites? Say I want to be able to watch Angry Video Game Nerd from Cinemassacre.com from WMC or Media Browser. How would I go about doing that? I want to make sure these will work. I have to make this thing wife proof to get it approved by the boss. Any help would be appreciated.

I could be mistaken, but I was under the impression that Amazon video on a pc only worked with the Amazon player.

If there's another way, I'd be interested in hearing it as well.

Maybe? I have no clue. If so, is there a way to launch the Amazon player from inside WMC? I know there is a program called Amazon Unbox that works from inside WMC, but I'm pretty sure it is only for purchased or rented titles only though. I could be wrong though, hence the reason I'm asking.

How does the Amazon VOD app for xbmc work? You can look into using xbmc for that feature:

Amazon VOD actually works nicely with 7MC...

If I'm reading that correctly, that only works with Amazon rentals because it requires that the movie be downloaded to the hard disk. It's my impression that the free Amazon Prime movies are not downloaded, but are streamed in real time. Thus, I don't think that approach described at the link will work for Amazon Prime.

I have never used the amazon player, I run unbox only to download the movie, I use the player in 7mc

The movie is downloaded, not streamed real time so if this is not an option with prime, then you are correct, this solution would not work for you

Did some more reading, and it is correct that Unbox will not work for Prime. I guess I will be looking for a solution to launch the Amazon media player from inside WMC. Hopefully Amazon gets on the ball soon and designs a WMC plug-in soon.

Would it be possible for you to make it work with Amazon Prime?

I use your player, and integrating Amazon Prime streaming would be a nice addition.

Submit a feature request to Amazon. I did it a couple of months ago but we would need a lot more people to get it going. http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/...1&p=3502#p3502


I use the unbox software to download purchased/rented video onto the PC. Then in WMC you point a video folder to the downloaded file location and the video will then show up when browsing videos in WMC.
