I really like the way rigid rear projection screens looks. I want to recreate this in a diy application.
I have tried the following:
Sheet: you see too much sheet texture.
Shower curtain: hot spot/see curtain too much.
A number of frosted glass films: too transparent = hot spot. Too opaque = dim image. (There may be a sweet spot here but hard to tell with small inexpensive samples.)
Spray paint: not transparent.
Rolled latex Paint: way too much texture in paint.
Window tint: too transparent.
A number of tracing/vellum/drafting papers: (most promising of all materials)does not "pop" like the rear projection screen film sample I received from Solyx though. (which looks really good)
Frosted glass: can't find it with enough frost, too transparent.
The cheapest rear projection screen film I can find is $40 a foot x 60" plus I have to buy well over $100 worth of acrylic sheet.
Does anyone have screen shots of a diy rigid rear projection screen with details about it?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to accomplish this affordably?
