Trade in Bose or continue setting up new system

My Bose lifestyle 50 finally died, it had 3 zones and worked quite well with 4 other rooms of in-wall speakers. Ease of use is important to me.

My options are
Trade in for v35 at 1/2 price (around $1600)
Or installing different system-marantz sr 5006 and aperion verus forte speakers, ($3000) seems i need speaker selector now and will still only have 2 zones. I get 30 day trial and it sounds good but I hate these big towers that have to sit on the floor and 2 feet from the wall.

I have the new system completed in one room but am getting frustrated with the complicated installation for the other rooms, cost and lack of 3 zones.

I am ready to throw in the towel and take Bose's offer, good price, small speakers, easy set up. Will I regret this decision?
Need quick advice.

Yes. Unless your listening preference is the 60hz to 10khz range with thin and tinny mids and no highs.

If you didn't want "big" towers on the floor 2 feet from the walls, why did you buy them?

Aperion has the very nice Versus Forte bookshelf that is front ported so it can be installed on the wall. It would still smoke anything from Bose.

You could get 8 of them for $1200 and put speakers everywhere. The matching center is $400 and then get a decent sub for around $500.

Of course if you're happy with the Bose and are willing to give up sound for convenience then perhaps you should stay with Bose.

ITs truley hard to say if you will regret that or not, its up to you... I know thats not prob. the answer you are looking for but its the only truth I can provide. Did you like the Bose you had before is one question I would ask?? If so, then I would reccomend going that route again as you are looking for "ease". Quite a few people dont reccomend Bose as they think they are over priced for what they are, as I tend to be one of those people as well... but then again thatsw me/them and not you as "you" are the one that has determine what's best for you. So if you liked the Bose before then go that route. If you have some time and are able to go test & listen to a few line then I would suggest that... just to make sure.

Its not that I dont like Bose per say, I do believe they have thier spot in certian areas etc.: computer speakers & car audio as they sound pretty decent but then again thats at "short range" to where its somewhat a confined listening area as to where when the sound feild opens up to larger area's is where they drop in performance. Remember thou, thats just me and not "you". If Bose wasnt so overhyped & priced I would say they would be a good value... but only "if" that is.

Now are far as the other set up you mentioned you may want to look into that a bit more as they are different ways to get that done. I am not the one to help you with that since I have never had the chance to do such a situation but I do believe there are some pretty experianced ones on the AVS site here they can help you and direct you to what may work for the zones. As far as Towers go, if thats not for you then you may want to look into such as bookshelfs... just a thought thou.

Hope you find the answer you are looking for soon... take care.

You are apparently happy with the Bose sound and the offer is a good one for them, so go with the Bose. Is there better sound out there? Of course but if you are satisfied with what you had why change. Besides the V35 sounds much better than your older Lifestyle.

Depends. If you expect the Bose system to sound like a comparably priced non-Bose system in a friend's house, then you are likely to be disappointed.

Kini62 is right. You don't need towers to have a better sounding system. Nor do you have to spend $3000. Buy a receiver. Then get this HSU Enthusiast 2 system, and be prepared to be impressed by how well it sounds when installed in your home.

Stick with Bose, what other company is going to offer you 50% off on an upgrade? You were happy with your system before, so take the money and run

Even at 1/2 off it still is a lousy deal.

Ease of use is very important to the OP and that is one thing that can not be taken away from Bose. They really are a lifestyle product albeit a pricey one for the caliber of product one receives.

OP, another Bose system will rid you of your headaches Go for it.

At least, some one at Bose will smile. Why not buy a pair of the
Forte bookshelf speakers for a trial run - if you do not like them,
then send them back.

And NHT and Marantz, would be a decent deal

Ease of use is about the only thing your going to get. You sure as hell aren't getting the sound quality that other offerings are going to give you. I've heard plenty of Bose speakers in my life time and I have still yet to hear one of them I liked. Actually, I did like one product of theirs. It was a pair of over the ear headphones that I picked up for 1/3 of the price. At normal price, it wouldn't have sounded that good.

I like the idea of the bookshelf speakers for the front and if they sound great, returning the towers. I took the advice of the salesman on the system and was not aware that towers had to be placed 2 feet from the wall, had I known I would not have chosen them.
And a speaker selector with volume control seems the simplest way to run the other zone.
Thank you so much for the opinions, advice, ideas, etc. it helps to know I am speaking to people who are knowledgeable and are not just in it for a commission.
Excited to finish this off and enjoy the end result, back under the house to run more wire!
