Official JVC X30 / RS45 owner's thread!

I just picked up my first 1080p projector after holding out all these years!
Mind you I have had projectors since the 3 tube Sonys from back in the mid 90s...
Then went through a bunch of Sharp, Epson and finally Sony but these projectors were prior to the HDMI input days.

I want first to thank this board for helping make my decision whilst doing my research.
On my list was the PT4000 or the PT7000 until I saw the X30 in action thanks to Dave Hao of Eastporters.
There was no turning back! LOL!

Anyways, attached are photos of the unboxing.

I do have one issue though.
My Anthem D2 preamp/processor's output through HDMI does not send a signal to the X30.

I used the same HDMI cable from my son's Xbox360 and no problems at all.
That's how I managed to get the screen shots.
The problem now is there is no audio...

Is there an issue with the D2 HDMI output going to the JVC?
I currently use that output for my Pioneer Plasma and it works fine.
It's very puzzling....

Congratulations Dave!

Did you buy the 3D emitter and glasses or are you using it for 2D only?

Thats awesome they are starting to ship out now, this means I should be getting mine anyday as I to am from Canada but ordered from Quebec Accustic. Perfect timing as I just finished building my screen and hung it tonight.

I ordered the emitter but will be getting it on Friday.
Got 2 pairs of glasses though...

I somehow managed to get the Anthem D2 to talk to the X30 finally.
Just finished watching Training Day.

I could detect slight 'jitter' on fast motion scenes.
It wasn't distracting though.
I have everything on default settings and the picture profile on 'film'.

Will play with the settings more tomorrow..

What version of HDMI is your processor? May want to try changing the sequence of your startup as this might help if it is an older version. Turn on the processor and source before firing up the jvc. Worth a try. SJ

I don't know which version I have but it's an Anthem D2 from 3 years back.

I somehow managed to get it to work finally.
I think it was in the sequence you mentioned where the PJ was initially off.

They are identical except from what I understand the RS45 is sold through the professional division. ie installers etc.
The RS45 has a gold ring around the lens surround whilst the X30 is silver...

The warranty is 3 years on the X30 and only 2 on the RS45.

Makes more sense to go for the one with the longer warranty!

From what I remember, the only difference is the color of the material around the lens. The RS45 has a gold surround while the X30 has a silver one.

I was going to get the X30 because of the three year warranty, but ended up going with the RS45 because I was able to get a much better deal on it. And I'll leave it at that.

Sorry guys I probably shouldn't have put that in my post. I promised my dealer not to say anything because then everybody would be asking for the same deal and he can't afford to give out free bulbs with each projector.

I can't wait for my projector to arrive. I'm guessing it will be just a little bit of an upgrade from my Optoma HD70...lol

I'm going to upgrade from a 92" screen to a 112" too.

Got the notification yesterday mine is on the way too....should be here tomorrow. So excited. Though at the same time it is complete torture!

We are building a house right now and am having the basement finished and as part of the project in the basement I already have a sand-filled stage built (the builder raised an eyebrow and said "you wanna do what?!" when I told him) and am now just beginning to work on the curved screen (aluminum frame is already done...now it is the "details".

But it is still a couple months away from its debut...so I guess I will live vicariously through you guys for now

Not to burst anybody's warranty balloon, the JVC USA consumer site clearly list the warranty on the X30 as being 2 years. Only the top of the line unit has a three year warranty just like the top of the pro line, the RS65, has a three year warranty. Click the details link.
