My x30 froze with a little square in the right corner i attach a picture this has occured three times just wondering if anyone else has seen this...
This has happened to me a few times.
I have it connected to an amp, the pic would freeze but audio still fine so I knew it was projector. All I do is change the hdmi source on amp (eg sat to DVD and back again) and back to the original and it clears it. NO need to crash projector.
I have a decent hdmi cable as well although it is 12M and updated firmware in February.
But as I have stated, it's not a big deal, simply change the source and back.
Think it's happened 4 times in 160 hrs, I'll pay more attention to it, it only happens when changing source, so maybe on the ps3 and decided to watch a DVD. It has never happened during viewing, which makes me think its some sort of handshake issue?
I have a monster cable and this problem happened when changing refresh rate...
That's exactly when it happened to me...I use autofrequency when I watch movies and when you exit the film and it returns to the regular refresh rate, that's when it happens.
I have not experienced it since I changed to a monoprice 22 awg cable.

I agree, it sounds like a handshake issue, but I believe the handshake issue is because of the cable, not the projector. 40' is a long way for a passive HDMI cable.
I have some questions about the configuration settings of the RS45.
1. HDMI Input
I can selecact Standard (16-235), Enhanced (0-255) or Super White (16-255).
What is the setting that should be used when using a HTPC with:
- Blu-Ray content to play
- Media Player Classic Home Cinema
- madVR as output renderer (set to PC levels 0-255 as RGB output levels)
- LAV video filter (RGB set to 'untouched' in LAV video filter)
- NVIDIA GTX460 with default 1080p23 profile BUT with n vidia fix during installation (for further information about this fix check http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s...post&p=1328716)
2. Color Space
I can select YCbCr (4:4:4), YCbCr (4:2:2) or RGB. It seems that only RGB seems to show the correct colours. I thought Blu-Ray specification was 4:2:2?
hello you have to set RGB is in your video card in vpr to avoid damaging conversions, leave it all to madvr.
thanks for your reply but that s not the answer the my question. I want to know which HDMI input (Standard (16-235), Enhanced (0-255) or Super White (16-255)) and Color Space (YCbCr (4:4:4), YCbCr (4:2:2) or RGB)I have to choose with the RS45.
I think I only saw 1 person brick one in the RS-55 thread, seems pretty unlikely overall. I may try updating my firmware finally, I wonder if an updated firmware refreshes the default color tables (because my 7000k to 9000k table is stuck at the same setting), hence if I switch between 7000-9000, it does nothing and even measures the same with the meter (not sure if this is a MFR bug or just a bug on my specific unit). Guess I could try and find out. 9500k and 6500k and 6000k or lower are different though.
At last someone else who has had this problem . Touch wood it hasnt happened again though to me. I first had the problem when I first purchased the projector and was messing around with the settings and trying things out. It happened 3 times over a period of a week and I reported it to jvc and was told it was a hdmi cable problem. However this problem went away . I have another problem which happens in 1 in 10 or 20 movies where I will lose the picture and not the sound. Press source buttons on amp and everything goes back to normal . Not a major problem but does happen sometimes when I watch a couple of trailers before a blu-ray movie and its never during a movie or trailer , just at the very start as if it looses the hdmi picture signal . I do however recall this happening with my old HD1 projector too and again was very rare . To why the freezing square stopped after 3 times is a mystery as I have the same cables and setup as I had at the time of this problem .
I have had this issue t least three times myself. My observations were that if the OSD/display was up while the projector swiched frame rates or resolution, this would induce the garbage OSD, which does make some sense. In two cases, the unit would then not respond to the remote control or local buttons at all, and had to be unplugged- not a good scenario considering how expensive and unreliable the bulbs are.
Whenever possible i try to avoid being in a menu when a disc is loading to avoid the frame rate change.
I really need an HDMI matrix switch, but I'm still too scared to hook one up. Anyone have any long-term success with a certain model HDMI switch and the JVC without any lockups yet?
Really like it, works great with my HC3800, and I like the 2 output option (LCD tv + HC3800).
Sorry I can't help on the JVC compatibility, but I can say w/o doubt that monoprice's CS is beyond reproach. If it doesn't work well they take it back no questions, and they've usually just emailed the ship label too (though I can't promise anything, monoprice has always done me right).
So if it doesn't work, swap it out for a different monoprice switcher. They'll sort you out one way or the other.

Just ordered a RS45 from AVS, very good service BTW. I was curious how many owners are pairing this with a Lumagen product. I'm considering getting one and using the CalMan autocal function and was curious what users opinions are of this and if it's worth the effort/price. I'm really curious how it might compare to an actual pro calibration since it might be a little cheaper in the long run to do touch ups on my own.
EDIT: I'm looking at the SpectrCal website and I'm a little confused. Their website says that any device with DCC support can use the autocal feature. The RS45 is listed as a compatible product along with the lumagen and others. Does that mean I could perform the autocal without a lumagen altogether? Granted I wouldn't get all the advanced feature of the lumagen, but I would at least get relatively accurate colors, grayscale, and gamma.

Yes, you could do autocal either with the JVC alone, or with Lumagen.
You might want to do one for JVC to make it "close" (as RS45 does not have full CMS), and then run calibration with lumagen to bring it closer.
I don't think the lumagen and pro calibration are mutually exclusive. If you get a pro calibrator to come to your house, and if you had the lumagen, he can just basically do more and allow him to dial-in quicker and more accurate. Lumagen is a tool to help you to get a better calibration. Whoever use it and how good you use it will depend on the outcome. If you are new to calibration, be prepared to spend at least 50+ hrs to get a hang of what it feels like and what areas to play around and etc. Also, the auto-cal only get you close.. you likely will still need manual calibration to get the last mile.

Do you mean calibration. You can't do auto-calibration without another device like the lumagen.
According to the SpectraCal website it seems that some newer electronic devices such as the latest JVC projectors and certain Panasonic plasma TVs can use the autocal feature without the use of a Lumagen. There is a list on the webpage of display/devices that support the feature.
However, since the RS45 and other electronics do not have as fine CMS as the Lumagen it can't be dialed in as exact so the Lumagen would still offer some improvement. It also of course provides additional picture enhancements and scaling. I think a Lumagen is still worth adding, but the question comes down to at what price is it worth...
