New "4K" screen material from Elite Screens

Huh interesting...it doesn't seem to be an option for any of the screen frames, I wonder if this material is available yet? I'd love to get my hands on just the material for a DIY screen...

just spoke with Andrew on the phone. This material will be available sometime in the 1st quarter of 2012. They do not have pricing or samples available yet.

Ha, funny, I just had the exact same convo I'm not sure how long the AcoustiPro 1080P2 material has been available, but it looks it is going to be available on the Cinema235 screens later this month for about a $200 price premium over the standard 1080 material.

I was told I'd be given a price on the 4K material tomorrow, guess we'll see. It's definitely a better looking material (in terms of moire and lack of texture) than the 1080 or 1080P2, but depending on the price premium and availability I may just go with a 1080P2 screen as I don't have any immediate plans for 4K in my theater.

According to the sales staff at Elite, the part #'s and pricing won't be available on the 4K material until mid- to late-Q1, with the material being available for sale late-Q1.

The AcoustiPro 1080P2 material - the next best alternative - is just becoming available on their Cinema235 screens. I'll probably try to pick up just the fabric for my DIY CIH screen.

Judging by the pictures on the Elite website, the weave is denser in the vertical direction than it is in the horizontal direction on the 1080P2, and it also appears to be significantly denser than the 1080 material overall. I'm not sure if the weave itself is angular or if the picture is just taken that way, but I'm considering using the 1080P2 material so hopefully I can get a sample to evaluate.

I'm considering the Seymour AV XD material as well, which I evaluated a while back and was overall significantly better than the SW4500 I was using. Zero moire, no visible structure from normal seating distances, and brighter than my SW4500. Only downside is that, because of the irregular weave, you may or may notice what I can only describe as "sparkles" in large sections of uniform color. I found that to be much less distracting than the moire though, and I really had to look for it.

The A4K material is in stock and shipping in certain models and sizes. It just won the CEPro "Best At CEDIA 2012" award last month in Indianapolis. Was there a specific model you were interested in?

I may have missed it on the elite site, is there a non-curved 2.35:1 fixed screen available in the a4k material.

no specific model. Is it available as a diy kit? I would like to swap my current screen material with the Elite 4K.

That specific model is a standard model carried. It falls under the Peregrine 235 A4K series. You can looks specifically at model#: PGF125WH1W-A4K.

That's a newer model with a nice 3.5" frame.

There is very little information on the web site. Does the screen need eq to correct sound?

Does any body have or seen this screen? How does it compare to the enlightor 4k from seymour screen
