Polk RTI 12 : Need help for matching surrounds

post #1 of 3

Hi, I got the Polk RTI 12 pair for my front speakers. I also got Polk PSW 111 subwoofer free with this. My center channel is Polk CSI A3 - not the best center, but I got it for $99/-.

The original Polk page says that FXI 5 is a good sourround. I like the bipole/dipole sound. These are currently out of production.

Can I go with the FXI6 or FXi4? Anything else I should be looking at?

The FXi A series should be fine. Polk would probably recommend the 6s but if memory serves the 4s will have the exact same tweeter and woofer as the RTi12. I doubt you will need the extra bass extension offered by the larger surrounds. Let me tell you those are great speakers. With the right amplification and room correction they will sound great. If there is one upgrade I would recommend it would be to get the larger Polk center (csi5 or csi a6) as they sound much better.

Cheers,
NM

FXi3 = FXi A4
FXi5 = FXi A6

Due your front speakers are RTi 12 I'll recommend you get the CSi5 (or CSi A6) as center channel and the FXi A6 as surround speakers.
