165" Fixed frame screen vs screen paint

I am trying to decide whether to get a fixed frame screen vs screen paint.

Setup: It's a 165" diagonal (144"x80.5" 1.78:1 ratio) picture. The room is not totally dark, and I do need wide viewing angles. From reading on projectorcentral, it looks like I should probably look for a gray screen and I should be shooting for gains close to 1.0. In terms of brands, it looks like they are recommending the Stewart Firehawk or the Da-lite HCCV. But neither of them seem to have a ~165" size and they seem to be 1.6:1 instead of 1.78:1 ratios. Any ideas on good fixed frame screens?

If not, I've been thinking about backing off and using ScreenGoo instead. Thoughts on that vs fixed frame?

From looking at the different costs (including labor costs), price doesn't seem to be a huge factor. If I could find a great fixed frame screen, I would probably just do that to save some hassle.

Thanks!

I'm not really keen on Elite Screens but it's the size and aspect ratio you want.

By the way what projector are you using? Most projectors are going to have a tough time shooting a decent image on a screen bigger than 120".

What's wrong with the Elite screens?

I'm using an Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8500UB. It actually looks great on just the white wall, but I wanted to go for the full look with a real screen.

Other people sat they have great results with the Elite but I had bad sparkling, hot spots, and uneven texturing.

With that size - Go with Dalite High Power. Anything else will be dim and you will regret it later.

Ok I read the suggestions from this thread plus some private messages and I decided I'm going to try for the fixed frame. I found a da-lite HCCV that isn't quite large enough, but I'll shrink my picture slightly for it [projectorscreenstore - Da-Lite - 87181-Black]

I'm also waiting to hear if there is a Stewart Firehawk in about that size, but otherwise I'm just going to get the Da-Lite.

Thanks!
