I purchased this TV (46") in Dec 2011 at SAMs for $898. It's in my bedroom as my main tv is my 63" 3D Sammy Plasma. I have been very happy with it so far. I usually pair my ear force delta headset to the tv for late night movie sessions with my wife. The headset pairs, but I get no sound. If I pair it with my iPad I get sound. Has any one had issues with the Bluetooth audio streaming function? No changes have been made, and the Bluetooth audio option is turned on. Are there any firmware updates offered for this tv?
I bought the M3D460SR yesterday from Sam's. It replaces a 2006 Vizio L37 LCD (also from Sam's), which has now been relocated to the guest bedroom. I'm very pleased with everything in this new 46" Vizio: PQ and audio are significantly better than the old L37; so far no buzzing nor the high-pitch noises as previously reported in this thread; VIA apps are cool - wi-fi was an easy connect / now running on ethernet; and we're learning more about using the BT remote, which is a busy little device. Buying a 3D BD player this week, and will try out a 3D movie by the weekend. Main issue now is pondering whether to get the 3-yr extended warranty from Sam's within the 30-day decision period.
All-in-all, Vizio is still hard to beat - this is my 4th Vizio TV since 2006 (all from Sam's), and the previous 3 are still running fine with no problems ever.

Has anyone found a solution to the ghosting issue. I have played with all the advanced settings and have been able to get it to a minimum but I can still see it. Has anyone tried exchanging the tv to see if its only some of them or all of this model is having the issue.

I haven't found any info on how to check the installed FW version for this TV.
I am not sure about where to check for firmware version but I spoke with a Vizio rep yesterday and they said there are currently no firmware updates available. I am returning the TV this weekend and getting a LG 47LW5600. The ghosting is just horrible. Iam seeing it on SD sources like Farscape on Netflix.

I used a universal remote previously programmed for another Vizio tv and I have discovered that this tv does indeed have picture in picture!

I discovered it quite accidentally by pressing the pip button I had programmed from the other tv and it just worked. I cant adjust the size of the pip window, but pip and half and half works!
Just an update on this tv. I've tried a bunch of different settings including turning all the automatic sensing and motion smoothing off - but the ghosting issue is still terrible. I'm probably trained to notice it now. I'm going to contact Vizio and report the issue. But I can say for sure if this ghosting issue isn't solved the tv is going back for sure. I can see ghosting on comcast tv, bluray discs, and to a lesser degree on internet sources like Hulu and Cinemanow.
This is exactly what was happening to me. They said they would have to send a tech out, but only after I sent them a video of the issue. I returned it over the weekend and purchased a LG 47LW5600. Couldn't be happier.

Kind of just browsing around looking for a tv deal. I see Wal-Mart has the M3D550SR for $1398. I see the input on here is kind of mixed, would you guys recommend this tv? Thanks for any input.

just got the tv today and am setting it up (got it from ebay from a new other sale for 780 shipped. I'll write a review of my thoughts tomorrow!

Here's my review of the vizio 46 inch led 3d.

Pros:
Great tv.
super thin, super light
VERY VERY good rich colors.
Good 3d angle viewing, about 160 degrees.
XBOX 360 AND PS3 3d works amazingly well. *NOTE* to get the xbox to display 3d, you need to turn OFF display discovery, as with it on, pushing the 3d button on the vizio remote did nothing. Weird
movie theater glasses work on this (steal as many as you can! stock up now!)
There is virtually NO HEAT from this TV. My other newer LCDS radiate heat. This is very cool.
Remote and tv apps are great, netflix, amazon video, and hulu works amazing!

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A 1.4 hdmi reciever as 1.3 will NOT pass 3d through.
HDMI in to the tv and optical out from the tv will only produce 2 channel audio!
(I have a sony std-gr820 7.1 1.3hdmi reciever on sale on ebay (look it up if you 'd like, my ebay name is benjmyers) for sale now hah)

CONS: (only 3)

Ghosting, this is the big one and i've experienced it with one video source so far, halo anniversery. The gun has a blue ghost. EVERY other 3d material, I havent noticed any at all. That includes alot of ps3 game demos, and sbs hd movies streamed from my computer to ps3 via playstaion media server (as this is the only way i can figure out how to get mkv's to the tv, but it works really well!) and a hand full of xbox 3d games.

High pitched noise. I forgotten all about the people metioning this. I havent had this at all! And I am one of those that hears 'electric buzzing/humming. I must have a good set.

GLARE: Yep, the screen has it and its stronger than my 42 vizio non 3d. this one sucks...ah well.

I got it for 780 via ebay from B-stock and I am SUPER happy with my purchase!

I have the M3D4600SV and at first I noticed the terrible high pitch noise. So by disconnecting every device and connecting one at a time I found that the cable box was back feeding into the TV causing the noise. I upgraded to the vizio High Speed HDMI® Cable-Ultra Flat Series and the noise is gone. Later I used the USB to charge my cell phone (lost the wall attachment) and my phone made the noise return. I advise anyone with the noise if you have not already follow the same steps.
I've had this TV for a few weeks, and so far so good. No high pitched noise unless I stick my head up against the power board in the back. Cannot hear it from the front.

Glare is terrible, but nothing curtains can't fix.

I used this video source from Youtube to calibrate:
-https-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=my_JRp6inlw
And played it through 3 different HDMI devices,
PS3 in HDMI, Laptop DVI-> HDMI, tablet (Iconia A500) HDMI
They all looked about the same, and were best at these TV setting:

Backlight: 75 depends on the content)
Brightness: 85 (yeah that high!)
Contract: 33 (yeah that low!)
Color: 47 to 52 (Depending on content)
Tint: -3 to 0 (Weird right?)
Sharpness: 10

Color temperature: Normal

Noise Reduction: Low
MPEG NR: Low
Color Enhancement: Normal
Adaptive Luma: Low (not exactly sure what this is, but it looked best at those brightness and contrast)
Film Mode: Off
Smart Dimming: Off (usually)
Ambient Light Sensor: Off (usually)

I'm curious to know anyone elses' setting or if they find mine good, especially on PS3 games with lots of dark scenes

As much as I hate to work with customer service on any issue with one of their brand new products - I am talking to Vizio about the blue ghosting issue now. They told me they haven't come across any other customers experiencing this. I guess in this day and age people just take it back to the store (Costco) and get their money back! I'm super tempted to do this. But since Vizio reached out to me after my original email, I'm going to see what happens. I figure their efforts deserve one last chance before a return.

Despite my initial exhuberance with the M3D460SR from nearly 2 weeks ago, my first time experience with a 3D movie this past weekend was bad: image ghosting no matter my viewing position nor adjustments to settings. I returned it to Sams and have since bought the LG 47LW5600.
Bye and good luck to you folks.

have you tried the non premium pair of glasses? I noticed it was better for 3d. Ghosting though.. the 42 so far I see doesn't suffer from it for me.

Anyone else have a m3d420sr with ghosting?
I have a m3d420sr and I want it as the display output.

I have an Nvidia gtx460, seems the only way to game with it without buying their shutter glasses is to use an IZ3D driver pack? Is that right?

How about AMD, what's their way of implementing 3D? Also shutter glasses?

M3D460SR:
Does anyone else have an issue that the remote will not move from 2D to 3D, when detected? I have tried the arrows and the qwerty pad with no luck. Someone said a firmware upgrade would fix it. Is one available?

So this has a glossy screen and not a matte finish? For some reason I thought all Vizio's were matte?

The M3D460SR screen is highly reflective, not matte.
Total nightmare: this TV is a joke and so is Vizio as a company. If anyone wants to get a class action started, I'd love to fatten an attorney's pockets and get a few dollars back for my troubles at Vizio's expense. Please PM me.

I bought this TV at the end of December - the unit was shipped to the retailer December 14th and I picked it up on December 29th. The picture is fantastic, Vizio apps were a nice added touch, the internet hooked right up . . . and then I hooked my HDMI cable box up to it.

Any HDMI cables broadcasting a signal to the TV create a high frequency squealing noise. If you're over 35-40 or don't have sensitive hearing and don't mind just turning the volume up a couple clicks its no big deal. For me at 28, it's maddening.

I called Vizio and they were very prompt in having a repair technician come out to the house. They sent him out with a new main board, power board, and bluetooth module for my TV, as well as his own blu-ray and HDMI cables to test it. He tested and confirmed hearing the issue, much louder now that the case of the TV was off. He replaced the parts one by one, testing each time to see if it helped the problem and each time the problem was identical. After this Vizio escalated my issues and said they were sending me out a new TV. This is where things got ugly.

The shipping company was so inconsiderate and incompetent that taking a half day off work wasn't enough, they completely missed their 4 hour delivery window by more than 2 hours and had to make me take a second half day to deliver the TV. When the TV finally arrived it was a refurbished unit with paint chipped off the stand mounting brackets and clear signs of wear and tear, I guess a new case was just too much money for Vizio to spend on a replacement unit for a TV that had left their factory less than 11 weeks ago. Icing on the cake, exact same identical issue as verified by their repair technician weeks prior.

I refused delivery and called Vizio back. I got snotty service from their Utah CSR and the call center supervisor. It took threatening small claims to recoup a days lost wages and the full cost of the TV to get the issue escalated to their corporate office. When I got a call from Irvine the next day the CSR read the same script with the same 'I don't care' attitude and was more concerned with regurgitating the same 3 sentence replacement policy rather than using their head and getting someone involved who could help. I've since gone to a few retailers and verified that floor models of the TV are making the same high frequency squeal, audible as far away as 15-20 feet to my ears.

I come from an engineering background, and told them on the phone from the start (as did their on site technician) that its a design issue with the electrical on the main board. Here I am two months later and countless hours wasted on the phone all trying to help a company out. It's so bloated and incompetent that each person I talked to refuses to even acknowledge there could be a problem with the TV design or involve someone that can speak to it.

Two months ago I was excited about a US based electronics company and wanted to help them fix an issue and avoid a larger recall or worse - as with the Samsung LNT line - a massive class action lawsuit that would cost them millions. Instead, I'm now taking my TV back to the retailer for a full refund and there's no chance I'll ever own a Vizio product for the rest of my life.

Picked up the M3D460SR from Costco today ($900). I have only had the TV for a few hours, but I want to post some info.

There were two issues that I wanted to get to work on right away buzzing and ghosting.

With nothing connected except for an antenna, I tuned into an HD station and volume set to 0.

If I put my ear about 1-2 near the back lower right (by the SN sticker) you can hear a buzzing, but once I move towards the front of the TV it can't be heard.
However, I do hear a high pitched tone and I am able to hear it at my sitting location that is about 12' away, but it is very, very faint and once the volume is turned up to 3 it blends into background. It is on the threshold where you need to be actively listing for the tone, if not it blends into the background noise.

I work automotive NVH and if I had to subjectively rate it I would give it a 4 on my trusty scale:

1 -Noticeable and very objectionable
Must be improved, cannot sell on market
2 -Noticeable
Strong desire for improvement
3 - Noticeable, but is acceptable in normal operation
Some desire for improvement
4 - Faint must be tuned in to hear
Little to no desire for improvement
5 - No tone
Complete satisfaction

I saw someone noted that this only happens with HDMI connected. So, I will redo the above test once I get some HDMI cables, my previous TV didn't have any HDMI inputs.

I then moved to the ghosting.
I plugged my Xbox 360 via the component inputs and put in Halo Reach, picked a solo campaign with a lot of action and right away I noticed that the blue circle that you use for aiming would ghost and not keep up with my movements. I turned game mode to On and it went away I played for a few more minutes and didn't see any issues.

I then when to watch some network HD content: News, PBS, Hockey. This took a while, I like hockeyThat is when I saw it something similar. When they shoot the puck across the ice it doesn't look right. I first turned everything off: smooth motion, MPEG NR, real cinema, noise reduction, film mode. It helped, but I don't know. I need to test some more content.

I might go out and get the E3D470VX from Wal-Mart ($750) while it is just a LCD I got the impression that it is pretty good.

I just bought the M3D460SR. Getting a slight humming noise watching cable, but it goes away after sometime, and it randomly comes back depending what's on. On my PS3, it's constantly humming at 1080P. If I set the PS3 video settings to 720p/1080i, no humming. Any idea how to fix this? I heard a 3-prong to 2-prong adapter can remove humming. I have a VCR set up via antenna, no humming, FYI. This TV cost $900 at Costco, what's a good alternative to this TV? Don't really want to let go of all these features this TV has, I love it. Except the humming...

After returning mine to Sam's last month, I bought the LG 47LW5600 thru Amazon. Price then was the same, but it's higher now.
Yeah that's saddening. I have no other nice alternative at that price. I don't know if the transformers or whatever needs time to "settle in" because now for my PS3 the humming noise went away, the only difference was that I used a better HDMI cable. However, initially with that better hdmi cable, it started to hum, but then it went away. Weird, weird, weird.
Chatted with a vizio tech on their site. He told me there's a low rate of issues for the TV....lol

Ok guys, is this TV (M3D460SR) a TRUE 240hz or is it 120hz as the manual states?

I want to keep this TV considering the comparable LG set got really expensive in my opinion. I can deal with the humming, but this ghosting sucks. Does anyone have any recommended picture settings to decrease the ghosting?
Even your Vizio TV went up a $100 on 1 March, then recently dropped back down. Keeping monitoring the ususal sites for price changes on the TV you're interested in; you might get lucky with a 1-day sale price.
