Sony 3D - Secret improvements?

So I've noticed from watching the 3D Experience channel, some clips flicker quite badly and others don't. Is this due to different frame rates? The difference is quite dramatic. If they could apply the better technique to new movie released then they'd solve a lot of their problems.

I've noticed some Blu-ray 3Ds flicker and some don't as well.

Drive Crazy was hard to watch with all the flickering, and so was Tangled. Then I took the Tangled blu-ray out, re-seated it back in my blu-ray player and Tangled was perfect. I didn't know this was possible in a digital format! I thought you either saw it correctly or didn't see it at all. Guess not with 3D.

Maybe if I rent Drive Crazy again, and I seat it in my blu-ray player properly, it won't flicker? I don't know.

Anyone else seen this?

How far do you guys sit from the TV? Have you tried moving closer to see if it goes away?

It was the same regardless of distance from the screen.

The 'flicker' I'm talking about basically made Tangled unwatchable. Everything in the background flickered white-to-image about 4 times a second. When I saw that, I said, 'Disney/Pixar couldn't have made Tangled 3D that horrible - I keep hearing how great it was!'. It was like watching an old 5 cent 1920's movie on one of the Nickelodeon machines - incredible flicker that is not possible.

I was thinking maybe the software of the blu-ray player did something weird. I'll turn it on and off and see what happens. Nope. Same thing. Then, I just opened up the blu-ray player, took out the blu-ray, blew on it, put it back in, and Tangled 3D worked perfectly.

Ahh, the dreaded grit on the Blu-ray messin' things up. Always check your discs before putting in and playing.

It sounds to me more likely that your glasses just hadn't synced correctly the first time. When you took the disc out to clean it and started playing it again it had another chance to sync up. I've had issues along these lines with my projector (panasonic infrared: turning the ir transmitter strength up fixed it) but not my plasma (samsung bluetooth). Turning the glasses off then on also fixed the problem at the time.

Drive Angry is rock solid with zero flicker on my setup. The problem was something on your end.

I have both movies and there is not supposed to be any flicker. It does sound like a syncing issue with the glasses, or other hardware.
