Need help finding DVR to use with cable

Thread Starter
First, I am not sure if this is the right forum. Please let me know if I should post somewhere else.

Here are the facts:
I have Time Warner Cable.
I am adding a 2nd tv. (First tv I rent the HD DVR cable box from TW)
For the 2nd tv I want a basic DVR unit that I can buy and plug in the TW cable card.
I don't want to have to pay for any monthly subscription.
I don't want to have to use my PC as part of the set up.

What are my best options?
Thanks in advance.

Hi lincoln antenna

What I would suggest is the Magnavox RMDR515H/F7. This is a DVR with a DVD burner and a 500GB hard drive built in. It has a nice digital tuner that can pick up most of the digital cable signals, I am not sure about Time Warner, and has some added features that you can check at:

I hope you can buy a refurbished unit from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Magnavox-MDR51...4605296&sr=8-3) and save some on a great unit.

I own one and I have not had any glitches and I am hoping not to. Also in this forum there is mention of having the HDD and the DVD burner as easy to replace parts if anything should go wrong.

Hope I wetted your appetite ;-)

The only thing I can think of that satisfies both would be a Moxi or a TiVo with lifetime. You could probably find used versions of both on eBay.

New, they'd cost $500 or so.
