I would call Epson and get it replaced. Assuming all content and all sources show the same thing...you might have a dust blob or two. However can't tell for sure. But since it is brand new, don't full around...call support and get a new one.

Hey just curious if anyone has had the auto iris error problem? I have has two 6010's and they both have an auto iris error that prevents projector from working, unless I unplug power cord and turn off the auto iris. Anyone have same problem?

What version is the firmware? Have you updated it?

Has anyone ordered anything from Electronics Expo? I see they have a memorial day sale going on for the Epson 5010. They have the 5010 on sale for almost $300.00 off.

I was just wondering how reputable they are?

I'm looking to buy the 5010 in the next week or so.

As a matter of fact, I just order the 5010 and 5 sets of glasses from them this past Friday. Price was ridiculously good and if you use the savings code "GRANDSLAM" you will be very pleased with the result....you owe me for that one

Pulled the trigger on a 5010 wth AVS to replace an aging JVC RS1. Brightness uniformity and perceived sharpness we're always a problem with the RS1. I also never got that 'pop' that I have seen in many DLP and LCD flat screens with this projector. Should have it in hand by tomorrow and post my thoughts on the upgrade later this week!

That's a good price on the 5010, but I still can't figure out why anyone buys the 5010, when the 6010 gives you so much more. Talk to your dealer, mine came down significantly on the 6010.

If you aren't doing 2.35:1, the difference is a THX mode that is only valid for the first 10% or so of lamp life, an extra year of warranty, and black. There may be an extra lamp and 2 3D glasses but can't find that in my notes. Regardless, not worth a $1k premium for me.

Yep...that's about what I saw too.
If you add up the cost of the glasses, the lamp and the mount (which may or may not work for your installation anyway) it still comes out to about $500

I contacted my local dealer and with the sale price at Electronics Expo and his so called "deal" on the 6010, the price difference is about $1100. You can find the 3D glasses relatively cheap, plus the mount that comes with the 6010 wouldn't work for me. The only nice thing would be to have an extra bulb and THX mode.

For my purposes I think the 5010 will work just fine. I've done a lot of research of the last couple of months and the 5010 should be perfect for my bat cave.

Does anyone know if the newer models being shipped have firmware 104 or not? I would assume they do.

You get all of the above, plus a ceiling mount. The $1k premium is only MSRP. If you talk to your dealer you can get a better deal. Mine came down under $3. Considering a lamp, two 3D glasses are worth $400, the extra warranty and everything else was essentially free.

Hey Guys, long time since ive been on here! got a new addition to the house my SOn, anyways
I have a 15x16 room dedicated to theatre and i have a wilson art designer white laminate screen 120, a denon avr 790 and a epson 8350 running it. OK now, I really want 3d but love my 8350, so i want a 5010 what do u all think? also i tried the new ONKYO 616,515 and both wont work with my 8350. the display would lokk good for a sec then bounce around and distort, almost like a VHS tape that needs tracking. SO dont know what reciever to get either, my budget for reciever is about 700 tops and projector wise 2700. the screen needs to be re stretched lol. thanks for all the help
also 3d glasses, can i only get epson's and is the 5010 good for xbox 360 game play?

You can get a nice avr for 700. the 5010 will be so much brighter and the blacks will be much better than the 8350. The 5010 will have some gaming lag though. You can also find it cheaper than 2700 shipped.

I ended up getting the 6010 for about $500 over the price of the 5010. I do like the THX mode but the reason I bought the 6010 over the 5010 is I rather have a black projector on my dark ceiling, not white, plus it does come with all the accessories plus 1 extra year warranty. But if I had a white ceiling I would of bought the 5010. After all they are the same projector, it's just the 6010 has more features.

Very wise choice, I think that is a great price, though I was able to do a bit better but I bought some other gear at the same time.

Purchased the 5010 less than 1 month ago. I was disappointed when I checked the service menu and the firmware was V1.3. The firmware upgrade was easier to complete than I thought and I learned about the projector during the process. The hardest part was finding a laptop with Windows XP as all the laptops in my household are Apples.

OK great where can i find it for lower than 2700? and would you guys recommend onkyo for a receiver i have eclipse speakers. An d should i get epsons glasses or 3rd party?

Epson glasses are very sharp.
I also have the Xpand YouNiversal 104 but those are not so fantastic.
Panasonic have newer versions now and they probable work as well.
The Epsons are the 2nd #D glasses from Panasonic I think.

Read posts 1835 and 1836. I have never owned an Onkyo so I dont know. I like Yamaha and Denon.

well i have a denon now avr 790, and i love it but I need 3d compatibility, and i love the on screen display Onkyo runs hot I really dont like that! Do u know of a denon that has OSD,3d,4k upscalling, and at least 7.1? or a yamaha?Im open to something that is proven!

most new avr's have 3D, osd, but not sure about the 4k upscale. Alot of avr will run hot too because of the electrical compentents inside.

If you dont need pre-outs then the Denon 2112ci should be good for what you need and it does have 4k pass-through.

Is the projector mounted on the ceiling, or on the top of a high bookshelf? If it's mounted upside down, on the ceiling, you should be able to move the image as you want it without any problems. If you have it sitting the right way up, on top of a bookshelf, and you try to have the image as low as you have it, then I would expect it to be discoloured, as you say it is. ( I guess you have fixed the problem by now, but this was just a thought I had. :-) )

I'm not sure I can do this. But I paid $3150 plus tax...I think I could of got it for around $3000 or lower...I didn't do enough homework before going to the dealer. Oh well I'm still very happy. I bought mine from a dealer in Denver and I believe they sell online. ListenUp is their name. BTW This projector has a amazing picture in 2D and 3D. Black levels, sharpness and color are fantastic. I give it a 10. Good Luck!

I bought the 5010 from them last week. I bought several items from them before and had no problems. i have not opened the 5010 yet. i might ship it back tomorrow and get the 5010e at this price.
