All the damage was in Virginia. Not much in the Triad environs. We had some wind gusts and nothing of rain or very little at the most. The storm system that killed Virginia just grazed us on the way by. No real story here.

I may be wrong, but I am thinking we are going to get hammered late today with severe thunderstorms. Probably will effect most of the state too.

Maybe I'm not wrong... I just checked on the latest and this is happening.

They have trees down and no power in parts of Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.

I've been getting reports from Indiana, Ohio and Virginia today from individuals, and the picture I'm getting is not pretty. There are a bunch of dangerous factors adding into the business. Electricity gone and extremely high temperatures. A problem is this series of storms is not "news sexy". Few direct deaths, and no name to use as a catch word. But there are millions suffering. There are quite a few in the Triad TV market among them..

If so, where? We would like to know.

We have covered everything major within the market including a church fire in Alamance County that was triggered by lightning. We have been running heat stories for the last several days and we covered the storms the other night. So I don't think this is NOT being covered by the local media.

I was making no accusation. As far as I know, today, Monday, there isn't much story concerning the Triad Market.
There were considerable power outages from upper Guilford County northward, and some brush fires. There was a
general business shutdown over the weekend in much of the northern Triad market.. There has been better mention
of the impact today in the general media. There was little effect in the major Triad cities, and, I am not qualified to determine
what is or isn't newsworthy. It was word of mouth and other first hand accounts that got me any understanding of the event
and ny prinicple concern was the national media that focused more on a few specific areas.

No offense taken.

And we covered it and continue to cover it. Everyone has a story. There is only so much time and so much resource in a day to tell them.

Sad news. NC native and one of the all time TV classics. In Clt, WSOC/WAXN have announced plans to air special episodes of the Andy Griffith Show on Ch 9 and TV 64 on Fri and Sat. And here in Gvl, SC, it still airs daily on WYFF4 after the noon news.

I was not patronizing you. Just being truthful. I harbor no ill will toward you at all. You had a concern and you have every right to voice it. I answered it best I could, which I know wasn't much of an answer and was probably not the answer you were looking for. All I know is what I know and what I don't know, I really don't know!

This digital stuff doesn't always work as it should. As a corporate engineer at FOX told me one time, DTV is a high school science project that isn't ready for prime time. I have fondly remember that advice all these years later (he died of a heart attack last year, heck of a nice guy and had forgotten more stuff than I have ever known) and have found it to be true on more than one occasion, especially when you can't explain what happened, which does happen frequently it seems.

Here's a link from Betty Lynn, aka "Thelma Lou" who played the girlfriend of Barney on the show. In this video, she reflects on the life of Andy Griffith. She lives in Mount Airy.

I know I've seen him a few times over the years, so that colors my perception, I'm sure, but Lee Kinard looks like he just retired. And, other than gray hair, the same with Fred Blackman.

The Directv and OTA feeds of WGHP were NOT HD Sunday night. I meant to post sooner but I have been busy. The 10pm news, as noted by someone else, was fine. Fox 50 was HD the whole night.

See above.

I did see above. I was merely agreeing with the person who originally posted about the issue so that those who should be aware of the situation know that it was on more than one provider.

The only thing I can think of (and even that doesn't make any sense) is the AFD code was mangled somehow by the splicer (they are nothing but computers) and the HD side (which shouldn't be reacting to it at all) was reacting to it since non network was fine. It hasn't been seen since so it is kinda hard to fix something when it won't break again. Just sayin'.

Anyone know why Time Warner in Greensboro is airing WBRE from Pennsylvania in place of WXII on analog channel 11 and HD channel 1120? I just got back in town but it has been on all day today.

I'd guess it's related to the Hearst/Time Warner carriage dispute
