I have to believe that if they are moving ESPN1/2HD out of the HD tier, it must be part of their new agreement with Disney. Wow, I will be hard pressed to justify that $7/month if ESPN1/2HD become free. I mean does anyone need INHD/HDNet/HDNetMovies? They basically stink.

This will be interesting to keep an eye on. If anyone gets are response please post it, because I think almost everyone would cancel the HD Pack if it is true.

In the press release they also said something about ESPN U being added, but it hasn't shown up yet.

Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable. Both ESPN in HD and ESPN2 in HD are available on regular digital cable. They are not included in our HD Pack.

Maybe the HD pack is only going to be unique HD channels - not HD versions of existing channels. Time to cancel the HD pack??

As of last night, I no longer get ESPN-HD via clear QAM. Still get ESPN2-HD via QAM. Anyone else in G'boro still getting ESPN-HD in the clear?

So they put ESPN2-HD on TWC? I haven't seen it yet. What channel #?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. 556

Quite possibly. The remaining channels are definitely not worth $7/month. About the only thing I watch is "Nothing But Trailers" on HDNet, and they seem to have taken away "In Theaters" on INHD when they merged 1 & 2. Those were both good shows for HD a/v candy movie trailers.

It will be interesting to see what channels they add to this "HD Pack" I doubt the notion that they will only put specialty channels in the tier(i.e. channels that dont already have an SD version.) will happen, I cant see them still having only 3 channels and asking for 7 dollars, unless they decide to charge 3 bucks or so for the pack. Are there any other HD channels that dont have an SD already on the system, that we dont have? Obviously if they go by this notion, A and E, Nat Geo, Mtv, Versus/Golf. all these hd would be in the free hd tier....

Called Triad TWC today to cancel the HD Pack. Asked the woman to confirm that ESPN1/2HD were now available without the HD Pack. She said yes ESPN2HD is available now and that ESPNHD would be that way "this week". Not sure what she's talking about since everyone seems to already get ESPNHD without the HD Pack now.

I then asked about Versus/Golf HD, My48, and CW20. She indicated that for all of these (and ESPNU which I didn't even ask about) that "negotiations are in progress". They do love that answer. So nothing helpful on those fronts. I assume non news on any of them until they magically show up on the dial.

I actually meant to ask if they were going to add anything to the HD Pack to make it more appealing, but forgot. I am sure I would have been told "we are in negotiations" with lots of new networks for that tier.

Thanx for the update, I sent an email to Jack Stanley the piedmont triads branch president, asking about versus/golf HD, etc no reply, that was two days ago. Im debating cancelling that hd pack as well, but I do like a lot of the programming on inhd and hdnet.. we will all cancel and then they will add all this great stuff at a higher price, but the saps who chose to keep it will mantain the lower price just watch...

There's some moderately decent stuff on those 3 channels, but it's just not worth anything close to an additional $7/month to me. TWC gets enough of my money as it is, so I was thrilled to be able to reclaim a tiny portion of it back. I think they will be left with very few subscribers to this HD pack unless they figure out some compelling channels to add to it.

On channel 556 Espn2HD, do any of you guys get the "HDTV" in the info box for the programs that are in HD as we do on all the other channels? I dont, I know its nitpicky, just curious as to what you guys are seeing. Maybe its something that takes time to implement... who knows. thanx in advance.

Have the Sports On Demand channels been available in clear QAM on TWC in Winston-Salem for awhile, or is this something new? While looking for ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD (which I found), I ran across about half a dozen baseball games in progress.

I think MLB Extra Innings is doing a free preview right now. That's my guess.

Dear Donnie,

reply from customer service, of course the cookie cutter response, still no reply from President Jack Stanley...

Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable. At this time, we are unsure whether the Versus/Golf HD Channel will be carried in our division. We are focused on offering more quality channels to our customers as soon as we are able. We have forwarded your request to our marketing department for further review. We appreciate your patience. If you need further assistance, please reply via e-mail or contact our 24 hour Customer Service department at 1-800-334-7143.

ABC announced the problem was in NY and that they were feeding the entire country an upscaled SD signal.

It was not just TWC.

I just cancelled the HD Pack and the only channels I lost was HDNet and HDNet Movies, still have INHD, ESPNHD and ESPN2HD. Maybe they will be adding HD content in the future(hopefully), but not worth $6.95 for the HD Pack now.
Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll do the same thing. But you'd think they would surely figure out that no one's going to pay $7 for HDNet/HDNetM, unless of course they're up to something.

An update: I did a rescan, and once again receive both ESPN-HD and ESPN2-HD in the clear via QAM.

This must be different between Kville/Winston and Greensboro. I am definitely not getting InHD since cancelling. (Nor is a coworker of mine who also cancelled yesterday.)

Where are you located? Are you receiving a signal from the W-S headend or G'boro? Thanks.

Talk to Larry in CS he said they are having "issues" at the head-end on Spring Garden Street, and that is causing the problems, he informed not to unplug the STB or U will loose all channels... no timeframe on return of the channels.
And according to the ad's, I should consider going back to cable from satellite because of cost? Selection? Rain showers? With issues like this, I think not. I feel sorry for you cable subscribers. You are paying way too much money for service this bad for this long. Sat has its issues but loosing channels for no reason isn't one of them.

Speaking of rain fade. I had occasional rain fade with the 3 LNB dish and also some fade with the 18" round dish before it, but since I've gotten the 5 LNB dish I haven't had rain fade once.
