Supply problems with Panasonic 3D glasses twin pack?

I bought my 55" ST30 in early summer, right before there was a deal with the avatar pack and glasses.Called to complain to Panasonic but got nowhere.

At the end of October I bought the 3D glasses twin pack (TY-EW3D3MPK2) from panasonic direct (I get a corporate discount through my employer). However they have been on backorder ever since. Still as of this morning Panasonic direct has no ETA on when they'll be in.

I've checked around at other online merchants - no one else seems to have the glasses twin pack in stock. How could they not have sufficient supply planned in the critical holiday season? Hello Panasonic!!?! I'm guessing they shunted the supply of glasses over to the free pair you now get if you buy a VT model?

Anyone have any info on a supplier of these who has the glasses in stock and doesn't charge and arm and a leg for it?

nope I haven't been able to find them available. There are a quite a few sites that list the glasses for sale, but when you look at the details/add it to your cart/call them it turns out they are either on backorder from Panasonic or the retailer just has it drop shipped directly from Panasonic to you so you'll get the same backorder message from Panasonic.

Amazon currently shows that they have only 2 units in stock but they are selling for MSRP via Cleveland Plasma where many other places would have a significant discount from MSRP if they had stock. Interestingly Cleveland Plasma's site says they sell them for 25% less than Amazon's price, but then their storefront won't let you add it to the cart.

Here's J&Rs situation: They are backordered/out of stock on all of the 3rd generation glasses skus - e.g. single medium glasses, single large glasses, glasses 2-pack, and a 3rd gen 2 pack plus avatar set. I didn't even realize there was a 3rd gen glasses plus avatar pack.
Ironically the only Panasonic glasses J&R has in stock is the clunky 2nd generation glasses + avatar pack. See the image. WTF.

As for best buy, they don't sell the glasses over the web, only in store. And attached image has the in stock status for all best buys in the greater seattle area. Comes up goose eggs...

appreciate trying to find them.. but that pack from P.C. Richard is the older generation glasses with Avatar pack. All comments I've read from folks is the that new 3rd generation glasses are much better, so that's what I'm looking for.

Like everyone else, P.C. Richard says they are out of stock on the new 3rd gen glasses, waiting for shipment from Panasonic

Separately I called Panasonic this morning to get the status of my Panasonic Direct order.. still no ETA, though the cust rep said that
1. individual medium size 3rd gen glasses were starting to come in for shipment, though they were all allocated to fulfilling existing customer backorders
2. the reason for the supply problem was b/c of some quality issue in the initial lots of glasses and that had to be addressed in manufacturing. No details on what the issue was, but I've seen a surprising # of users who got 3rd gen units so far complain about issues with them
