Help. Samsung LN46A630

I've got a Samsung LN46A630 that is 2 yrs old. I was watching it for about 10 minutes when the picture flickered to a few times and then went to this. the picture quality is fine, but the colors are all screwed up. Its happening on all inputs and the on-screen menu. I pulled the back off and made sure all the cables were seated, but no luck. I've left it without power for a few hours more than once and when I turn it on it looks fine for about 3 seconds then goes back. Does anyone know what board would cause this? Or what else I could check. I'm very technically inclined, so, if I could determine what board it is I could replace it. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

First, search for the Official Samsung LNxxA630 Owners thread to see if anyone else had a problem like yours.

Second, there is at least one website on the internet which displays screwed up screens like yours and lists which boards are at fault. Some even detail how to repair problems. You'll have to search for them because I can't remember what they are.

Third, try sending a PM (Private Message) to mes444 who knows a lot about repairing these sets.

Fourth, several members have advised that Samsung is giving owners of older sets one free out of warranty maintenance call. Also, there are other out of warranty problems that they are repairing free, no questions asked. Call the number in the Owners Manual.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

The link for the site mentioned by dfp is below. If the reseating of the cables didn't help, according to the site, about 2/3 down it may be the T-con board. I'm not a repair person, so it's just a guess.

Seems like a lot of T-con board problems are popping up on Samsungs. Might be worth a call to their CS to see if they are offering any help on the repair.

Did you ever solve this issue? I have a similar problem on the same unit. It just started doing it last night. Purchased in 2009. Here is my screen. I am hoping it is one of those board mentioned and I can fix it myself.

I had a similar issue (twice) except my colors were pink rather than blue. Re-seating the cables to the T-con board resolved my issue in both cases.

Different model Samsung, but this is what my buddy is going through. First we did the capacitors with success and now this. Look at the pictures in the first post.

It looks like a major job to get to the connectors.

Thanks audit13! I am submitting my claim tonight!

I did end up ordering a "t-con board" off eBay (the blue board) and replaced it tonight, and my screen is now white instead of negative color. Not sure this is progress. I am going to put it back together and pretend I never touched it. POS it is.

I originally posted this in the LNxxA650 forum, as I didn't see an official forum for this model. This was the closest I could fine so forgive the double post.

For the past couple weeks we have had issues with this tv when we initially power it on. The screen will flash, sometimes make a screeching noise, power off and then power on again. This process happens usually two or three times. Once it is done the tv works fine, picture and sound are good, until the next power up.

Did some research and I thought it might be the transistor issues that Samsung had to make a settlement for. I called them to schedule my free fix and they sent out a tech yesterday. The tech said it seemed like a main board problem, not the capacitors, but changed out the capacitors anyway. Sure enough, the problem returned. The tech said changing out a main board is fairly easy and I could probably do it myself. However, I was doing more research and came across a similar post on a CNET forum. That commentor was having the same issue and replacing the main board 3 times didn't fix it. Somebody else was able to fix it by replacing the Side AV Input Board P/N BN41-00824C.

I have never replaced ANYTHING in a TV before and I'm nervous about where to start. I don't want to spend the money for a new main board if that isn't the problem. And if the problem IS the Side AV Input Board, then I have no idea how to replace that either.

Thanks for the help.
