Does A-300/C-300 has source direct? if not, is there is a button to change the resolution on the fly?

The 400 has the video processor. None in the 300. A vid processor is needed to scale.

I want to use my receiver to do the scaling for my DVD ISOs.

Currently I use Patriot Box Office and WDTV with custom firmware.

PBO has a button to switch resolution from 480 to 720 to 1080i to 1080P, whereas WDTV with custom firmware can output the data in its native resolution.

I am wondering if PCH A-300/C-300 has similar capabilities.

I am considering purchasing a used media player. Would you recommend PCH C-200 over PCH A-300? Going through this thread it seems that A300 has some issues handling certain type of files (multiple m2ts), is that not an issue with C-200? I am mainly looking for a player that will play HD audio (DTS-HD MA/HR) without any issues from BD ISO files. BD full menu is not a hard requirement.

Thanks in advance.

I can tell you this. Definitely do not buy any 300. I would say 200 or 400. Dune or Mede8er would be best.

You've had problems with a 300? I have not.

I suppose the 300 series are much better now. I had issues with my A300 when they came out. I had it for about 1 week, and returned it. I think it would be best to go with the latest and go for the A400. It supports Plex, which is a pretty nice application.

I have looked at the 400, but see no compelling reason to upgrade. And if I were buying today, I'd still buy the 300. I have zero need for video processing, and the little bit that one fiddles with the selection process doesn't seem to justify a faster processor.

YMMV.

For what its worth they finally released a fw update for the 300 series, even though they released the 300 series then forgot about it soon after to work on the 400 series...

Maybe a month or so ago. I updated mine, added an internal HDD with movies/tv shows, and gave to my mom. So far no complaints

Thanks. Guess it's been longer than that since I have used it.

All models from the 200 series up supports plex app.

As of now I only recommend mede8er or PCH until some progress comes out of DUNE they seems pretty stalled right now with zappitti players getting updates but nothing else.

They are still for sale, just at a really high premium.

Did the HD audio bug (DTS-HD MA pass through via hdmi ) get fixed with this firmware update?

Thanks

I found the answer to my question on the network media tank forum. The hd audio issue is not resolved but is in the works (with the new sdk).

The reports on the 300 were so bad I skipped it altogether then waited on the 400 until the reports turned good - the no hassle way to go with the PCH.

Rule of thumb for any media player wait a year if you dont want to deal with huge bugs. It takes at least a year for the sdk on the chipsets to mature to a level people accept. Only exception to this rule is if the player comes out a year after the chipset has already been on the market in other players but that is still hit and miss

There is no zooming option. It just streams the file. But you will want to handle that with your display anyway. I'd guess it is your display that is zooming the picture anyway.

Hi, I just bought an A-300 mainly to playback my blu-rays in BDMV folder with full menu navigation.

I've been finding the playback hit and miss. However there are certain rips I've tried (from the same series of films, so same structure) that will not recognize the 'MENU' button during playback, and when I stop playback, the screen goes black rather than return to the PCH menu. The only option is to turn off my Onkyo receiver and reboot the A-300.

It doesn't happen on most of my BDMV files, only this particular series of rips. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Also, I have an audio issue where I lose sound whilst switching audio tracks during BDMV playback, and need to turn receiver off and on again to restore sound. Is this likely to be a handshake issue with my Onkyo 876 receiver?

Any help gratefully received.
