The Last Of Us - an exclusive apocalypse survival game, now remastered for the PS4 - Page 5

Sony would be pretty stupid not to get ND to release a Uncharted next gen launch title in 2014.

They're probably have been working on it shortly after the U3 ship.

Not if they want their A-team on it. Their best folks are still working on The Last of Us, and presumably they won't be freed up until after it launches. Of course, they could always just keep the UC3 team on it. In which case, I'm not interested.

I'm more hyped for this game than ever!! We have a show in Canada called "Reviews On The Run" and they recently aired their E3 wrap up. All six reviewers (including Scott C. Jones, who gave Uncharted 3 a 6.5/10), thought The Last Of Us was the "game of the show".

New Cinematic from San Diego Comic-Con.

Man, this looks good. Each time they show it, the bar gets raised even higher. Unlike other studios, Naughty Dog knows how to use cinematics to sell (seldom-demoed) gameplay.

Also, this might be the first game where using explicit language makes the game sound gritty instead of adolescent.

I'd have to agree with the language use. Most games that throw in explicit language do so just to use it it seems. But the use of it in this scene creates more palpable tension in an already intense situation. I'm very excited for this to come out. It's looking more and more like an all time favorite for me so far.

Two things from that e3 demo...yes I am just now seeing it...
1. Its really hard to believe with all those cinematics that those are unscripted. Like the guy coming through the door after the molotov. He and Old Drake, I mean Joel, wrestle then his buddy comes at him for another cinematic. If all that ONLY happens because Joel rushes the guy instead of shooting him then its the BEST THING EVER.
2. While watching that BEAUTIFUL demo I was thinking to myself. If COD had these type of graphics people might actually die from being killed in game, kinda like when you die in a dream and you die IRL because your brain cant tell the difference. eek.gif

That particular scene at E3 is confirmed by ND to have been scripted. However, many gaming sites confirmed that behind closed doors the same scene in the actual game is unscripted. There were a lot of ways that the action played out apparently, and it still looked as "cinematic" as the public E3 demo.

Good news for sure.

But ND games run at 30FPS, so they "suck!"

I've been harking on wondering when Activision will finally be making an investment into a new engine, but then people just turn around and call COD great graphics, which it objectively isn't. But, objectivity doesn't matter and I'm not sure why this lesson hasn't been learned by more developers. ND atleast gives us the best of both trains of thought.

New Trailer

Release Date: 7th May 2013

They also announced that they will have MP. I just hope it's co-op.
There may be co-op scenarios, but it won't be campaign co-op:

I'm working on a website for this game as well as tomb raider 2013. (the game websites aren't up yet but the portal page is with a countdown)

Let me know if there is anything you'd like to see.

thanks.

Though I personally would only play co-op objectives in an MP environment, I don't quite understand the following line from the Joystiq post. I mean, since when did "heavy subject matter" stop a developer from including the standard deathmatch/capture the flag type of MP modes?

Of course, there's the possibility for adversarial multiplayer as well, though that seems a bit ... inappropriate given the heavy subject matter in The Last of Us.

Hi all!

I have the wiki setup and the fanfiction for the last of us. The rest of the website still has a ways to go. i plan to have everything done by the end of february if not sooner. right now i'm ahead of schedule though.

http://www.die2survive.com/the-last-of-us/

whoever adds most to the wiki will win a copy of The Last Of Us on me!
If you have a cool story, you'll be entered into a drawing to also win a free copy of The Last Of Us !

Enslaved is a game that a lot of people love to hate around here. I paid full price for it on release day and have no regrets. The DLC was worth the price of admission as well.

Back to topic, I've never been much for survival horror, but watching a 13-year-old Ellen Page running around kicking ass in a video game has a strong appeal ... and then there's that whole Naughty Dog part.

Enslaved was terrible

I did like the art, engine and level design. But the story, gameplay and mechanics were butchered

Enslaved was pretty good.

Didn't realize it as I'm on a media blackout, but apparently it's set in and around Boston!

Pretty sweet, I walk by / use these locations every day.

The Last of Us could be the best game that ND has ever created and I'm very excited to play it.The sound is amazing to say the least, animations are great and the overall atmosphere and presentation is fantastic as well. Also, I already had this game pre-ordered at the beginning of January and cannot wait to thoroughly enjoy it.Supposedly, the game is not true Open World like Fallout 3 and Dark Souls but has been described as Wide Linear...

Delayed until June 14th (a Friday...).

It looks like TLoU will give you your money's worth:

It's from ND, so of course it will be worth the money. I've replayed each of the Uncharted games at least twice and dabbled in the online for a bit. I have no doubt that The Last of Us will deliver on value for the dollar.

long and loose is worse than short and tight, especially if games have MP to continue the experience. Heavenly Sword got a lot of flack, but honestly coming in at 10 hours was fine rather than really dragging it out.

ND knows enough, but long for long sake can be bad. It hurt Alice: Madness Returns IMO

The general concept of TLoU, which centers around survivors roaming about while getting themselves into a variety of dire situations, lends itself to a lengthy adventure. Look at Fallout 3, which is a different genre but has a similar, basic concept in thast sense. You can get 50 hours out of that one.

As long as the game play is fun, I'm all in for a game that has a ton of areas to explore and encounters to overcome.
