Who knows, maybe its still just uncharted length, and they're just throwing out an optimistic number, as devs tend to do.
They've all been 6-8? Maybe I've just forgotten. UC3, maybe, but it feels like the previous two were longer. I guess I have been playing too many RPGs lately. smile.gif

I also try to plat every game I play, so my experience of first playthrough game time is probably skewed towards the very upper limit of what it takes on average.

If you're only getting 6 hours of gameplay from uncharted you have it set way too easy. I wouldn't say I am a total newb but I get atleast 12-16 hours of gameplay out of Uncharted.

HLTB (How long to beat), a site that aggregates user data on how long games take to beat, puts UC 1 and 3 just under 9hrs, UC2 at 10:40. So maybe not 6-8 like I thought, but still nowhere near 12-16. I guess they can approach that if you're really digging around for the artifacts, but I prefer not to get distracted by scavenger hunts or achievements on my first play through of a linear game. If I really dig it, I'll go back in and do that stuff the second play through. First run I always let the critical path take the lead.

I guess they just don't feel that long to me cause it never drags.

I'm guessing those that submit info to a site like that are looking for the lowest possible playtime, otherwise what would be the point?

Also...I don't ever plan on multiple playthroughs. I need to get everything about of one playthrough and then MAYBE if the game was good enough I might pick it back up 2-3 years down the road.

All told I've probably only played 5-6 games more than once since the PS2 days.
Final Fantasy III
FF VII
FF VIII
FF X
FF X-2
Chrono Trigger
The original God of War

Started to replay XIII but couldn't stand it.
Started to replay Legend of Mana but couldn't stand it.

There's multiple measures, the ones I listed were for just the main story. Speed runs were actually like 6ish hours, completionists in the high teens.

It's a pretty neat site, useful to find out how long games actually are, it's pretty accurate in my experience.

12-15 hours and longer if you stealth it and look for collectibles. So this is probably a 20 hour game for me since I like to do both.

What a great idea for a thread, I've credited you!

Anyways, I was thinking if a new two hour movie is $12 = $6/hr value and a $60 new PS3 game is 10 hours, then that is the equivalent value per hour -- but five time longer and you can replay, share, sell, or trade it!

You can get "old" PS3 classic games for $20, like MGS4, Uncharted 2, and other great games, that´s what I´m looking for since there are only a couple of NEW games that I´ll buy this year.

A lot of talk has died off about this game. This is one of the few games I am looking forward to for my PS3. But I think they may have had a major spoiler in the latest trailer.

Good thing I didn't watch the latest trailer, then. smile.gif

I'm definitely looking forward to this game too. I'm trying to decide if I should pre-order the regular edition or the Survival edition.

What, the red band trailer? I didn't notice anything. Oh, if you're talking about Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
"it's got everything to do with that girl,"
that's been in trailers in the past.

Anyway, only two months left. That decapitation was brutal. Looks like ND isn't holding back on this one.

No it was a shot of Joel at the end that has me thinking it could be a spoiler.

Does anyone know when the demo will be going up for people that didn't buy GoW? I want to check this demo out before I tell the wife if I want this game for Fathers day.

Have this pre-ordered from Amazon. My trade-in of Tomb Raider plus $20/promo pretty much paid for the game. This will probably be my last console game this generation so I'm expecting big things smile.gif

What $20 Amazon pre-order promo? I only see $10 credit for video streaming.

Sorry, it was a $20 bonus trade-in credit offered a few weeks back. It bumped my trade-in value of Tomb Raider up to $55.

Is anyone thinking about buying the season pass on launch? I have gotten burned buying a season pass and then not liking the content, but since this one will come with single player and multiplayer, it might be worth a look.

I've also regretted it almost every time. Often I lose interest in the game before they're done putting out content.

There's no rush to get the season pass until at least the first DLC is out.

I have ran in to the same issue. I do like the bonuses for the single player campaign avaliable at launch on this one though.

What are the bonuses? I vaguely recall hearing a stink about a bonus for preordering the season pass, that would give you some more powerful gear at the start.

I don't think I'd want that in a single player game, especially one about survival. I'd want to be only as capable as the designers intended me to be.

I think it was just faster crafting and reloading.

This will be my first Day One Digital purchase on a console. And probably my last unless they fix the $60 problem the way Steam has on the PC side.

Anyone play the demo for this yet? I played it a little the other day and was a little underwhelmed by the graphics. And for some reason everytime I would go into a dark environment the screen would light up and get all washed out like the game was trying to help you see in the dark better. Shadows would turn from black to grey. And before anyone asks no it's not my tv doing that. I don't use any dynamic contrast settings or enhancements or anything like that. I hope it doesn't do that in the final release because it looks horrible.

I agree with you 100%. It isn't your display, it is the game. I also hope they change it, but I doubt. The outside environment in the demo looks great to me. Inside is fine until as you said, in the dark it doesn't look right. It is fine with the flashlight. Also, Naughty Dawg has implemented some kind of artificial grain as well; I wonder if the final build will have an on off toggle like Mass Effect 2 has.

I did enjoy the demo, though I'm not super fond of the infected and how they look. The 3 main characters look great in the demo.

Ok good to know I'm not the only one who noticed this. I just played through the demo again just to make sure I wasn't going crazy. After the demo it shows a trailer for the game and the graphics in the trailer look amazing. It looks crisp and clear, the contrast is spot on, and black is black, compared to the demo which to me looks like a muddy washed out mess for some reason. I do agree with you though about the flashlight. When you have that on it looks fine. So I really don't know what is going on.
Yeah, I really hope they fix it. Seems odd considering their previous games they did fine with dark areas.
Season passes are for stupid people. Buying content before you even know what it is is just stupid. No other way to describe it.

I didn't have that problem. When I went into a dark room I couldn't see anything.

I agree about season passes. It makes no sense. It's weird though that you say you didn't have the same problem with the dark areas. Did you have your flashlight on the whole time?

Me neither. When it was dark inside, it was dark and I couldn't see anything.

Weird. Hopefully its just some kind of glitch in the demo that everyone isn't affected by, and isn't in the retail version.
