Hello Digital audio experts and enthusiasts,

I have purchased a Zoom H1 digital audio recorder. Pretty straight forward to use. Happy with quality.

I cannot figure out how to change the MP3 compression level. From what I gathered, from ads and reviews is that it's flexible between 48kbps all the way to 320 kbps. The only button that relates to file format is a rocker than switches back and forth between WAV & MP3. Nothing that changes compression level for mp3. And there is no menu (which is great), but, no dedicated buttons to do it either. Are those claims of flexibility of recording at various bitrates not true?

So, everything records at 320 Kbps. Which is ok, as I can convert later on but, kinda inconvenient.

And yes, the fold-out manual is not a lot of help in that department either.
