I read good reports about both also Canons.

I have the Canon and it only does 60i. It does it really well but it doesn't do 60p and between panasonic and Sony I'd hands down go with Panasonic.
Sony has the best image stabilization and the absolute worst autofocus.
The Panasonic has good image stabilization and really good autofocus.
The Panny is a lot more vibrant as well.

Sony has so many issues with their consumer stuff that it's ridiculous!
It isn't even close to Canon for Popularity. It's not advanced at all because it has the worst autofocus of all the mjor makes out there.

I own more Sony stuff than any other brand but I won't buy their cameras which jst aren't that good.
Look up reviews of Sony from independant websites and you won't find Sony beating out anyone.

I tested a CX560V and it wasn't good at all. I still have memories (and video) of the painfully slow autofocus.

Buy a Sony if you like but just be aware there are much better camcorders out there.
