Oh man this gtg is getting better everyday. Lol. F2 drool.
I'm excited about the f2 as well....that's a show stealer
post #123 of 431
I am looking forward to meeting new people and hearing many subs I have only read about. Seeing the F2, if one shows up will be cool as well. Can't wait.

The Cap is just too much sub physically. WAF is not good. I mean I would have only one spot for it. I think the empire is more like it With the Empire, I'll have more placement options. If they have them in stock I should be getting it by next Thursday. Should I bring that too? That's alot of subs for a crv.

Looks like you guys are going to have a good time. Look forward to reading your observations.

Are you looking to replace your legend with an empire? I've always wanted to listen to one.

As for the cap, I believe it's relatively small given its output, but by no means is it a small sub.
Yes. I think the empire is more on par with the dragon than the legend. I would like to bring both but have to see how it fits in the crv. I really want to bring the dragon because theirs no listening data at all. Chad stopped the 18" subs a year after he came out with them.

So close to me...

I would sure like to attend, but it is ski season and I have to admit that if the skiing happens to be good that weekend I'll be pounding bumps at MRG. Would it be ok to place myself into the "good chance I'll show but maybe not" category?

Just being honest about the situation .

No problem, I'll start a maybe list.

Uuummmmm, the cap is coming next thursday. I couldn't pass up a steller deal. So I'll be just bringing the Dragon.

Awesome, congrats! Did you get a passive cap or cap 1000? Mine are shipping tomorrow.

Looking forward to your impressions. Would it be worthwhile to compare a cap 1k to a passive cap with similar power?

I guess I'll bring my impressions with me and compare when I hear yours. Once this thing is in my house, it's not going anywhere.

Heh, understand. I sure hope Mike will give me a hand transporting mine. I think hauling them solo would be pretty tough.

It would be REALLY cool if someone were able to bring a new cap S so we could compare it against the cht 18.1 and the dragon.

The Cap S would probably walk all over the Dragon. It has 2x more power.

Although they use the same amp, the Empire has more impact. Not sure how it is low end. Chad said that the Phoenix, which is a ported version of the dragon is better match to the Empire. The Phoenix has two 3 inch ports firing towards the ground. It's relatively in a small cabinet as well. 22"x22" cube. Good subs though he stopped making them a year after it was released.

I don't have that much money at the moment. I am thinking of getting an Empire though. I get paid tomorrow, so that's when I'll make my final decision.

There is also an empire (single) for sale in DC on Craigslist.

I don't want to buy 2nd hand, I want to get a brand new sub. I like peace of mind knowing there won't be any blemishes on it and that the warranty is intact.

Late to the thread. Sorry I didn't pick up on this one earlier.
I always read about the gtg's with envy, could not make the trek up to Craigs place in Erie, PA some years back.
Do you have as many subs as you need? I can't offer much to the party in terms of gear as with my back I don't think I could get my SVSPC ultra off the floor if I wanted to. I think it has officially sunk into the rug not to be moved.
In any event I have always been interested in whether or not the 'pro' stuff was different from the home stuff and picked up two powered JBL studio monitors and two JBL 10" subs to put under them, sort of making a nice powered almost full range system. It's used for music only and certainly isn't like the bottom dwellers you guys are assembling, but . . . it might be an opportunity for those who haven't had an opportunity to hear this type of set up.
I still have the boxes and think the equipment would travel well.

Thoughts?

Best Regards and Happy Holidays to all bass freaks.
