Also I neglected to mention while it is in the basement, I have a walkout door so anything obscenely heavy could be hand trucked in.

brendan gets my vote....

unfortunately, i've already scheduled something for the original weekend, and i don't have many available ones after that until summer...

but you guys should carry on without me if you can get it setnup earlier than that...

With upgrades. Of course I couldn't not mod it.

Several subwoofers in effect. Mostly of the frankenwoofer kind. No specs, no rules. Can't publish the supplier. ;-)
Can take beer requests. Refill is due.

Harford County, MD is about 4 hours with traffic from NYC and a 8hr round trip. I don't know if its going to be do able for us. I can definitely do Staten Island though.
It is only a 4 hour round trip for me so I could swing that. Still hoping for some ringing in my ears after an awesome listening session.

I made some other plans once the cancellation happened, so can't make the date. If the date changes, would still want to participate - if not, have fun!
Let's reschedule as this whole thing got side tracked, and, it's really late in the game. I would still be willing to have people over but I do not have a massive theater.

Good stuff! Keep me posted!

Good idea. Sent you a PM to discuss details.

All - Stay tuned for a new date.

I hope I'm settled at my new home so I can attend. My subs will be in storage in Delaware tho...unless someone wants to buy them?!?!?!

Whatchu know about 7hz extension in 3000cf!!!!

I'm letting them go for cheap because I don't want to move these beasts or leave them in storage. That would be such a waste to leave them in storage and not getting any use. Plus this summer I am obviously going to want to build something new when the weather breaks.

Any who planned on picking up one of the disks at my GTG which sadly had to be cancelled please contact me via email. Mpray1983@yahoo.com.

Anyone want to host this?

I am interested in coming, but what are the thoughts of renting a cheap fire hall or a conference room at a hotel? have to look into noise restrictions and such. It might work out to like $50 bucks a man or less and there would be plenty of room! They just built a new fire hall down here and it is nice. I could probably get a good deal if I looked into it. Thoughts?

I am also building a theater in the upcoming year, I would have no problem hosting when it is completed down the road.
^^ That sounds like a good idea. We just need people to bring the equipment.

c'mon boys get this revived!

I moved to Massachusetts and sold my setup. I'm In the process of putting together a new system but I live in an apartment now and would not be able to host. Anyone else???

My cap is ready to go!

Someone who has a dedicated room or close to a movie theater type situation needs to bite the bullet and host this. I apologize once again for having to cancel but I had to move. Maybe we could use a room at a high end audio store. In Wilmington, DE there is two different places. Overture Home Theater and The HI-FI House are both right across the street from each other on rt. 202. Some good dudes work at both shops and I don't see why, with a little coercion, they wouldn't let us hold the event at there stores. It would bring in a good amount of traffic into the store for the day and they could put up some of there own demo subs into the lists and see how they hold up against, for the majority, Internet direct subs. The sad thing is that I don't even have my dual opposed MFW's anymore. I sold them along with my entire home theater to the guy that ended up renting my house.

Anyways...who thinks trying to have the GTG at a high end audio shop might be the way to go?

I'm in Salisbury MD about 2 hrs south of Wilmington DE. Would be willing to host perhaps. Have a modest system but would be willing to crank it up!
The store idea sounds interesting. I have been to Overture once and I bought my Integra and OPPO 83 from them. I also have kept in limited contact with the guy who sold me my gear. Does anybody want me to shoot him an email and let him know what is going on? If so, then some one say yes in here and please PM me what I should say in my email.
Yes to Mike and mmiles. It would be nice to hear the subs in a commerical setting but we can have it in Mmiles place as well. By looking at the first post, we had 17 orginial attendees. If there is room for subs and people than it doesn't matter to me. Mike, Im not sure what to ask for. Maybe offer to rent out the space for a day? A 4.5hr drive is tops for me.
I have not been to the store one time a long time ago. If I recall, one of the biggest areas they had was the place where they had their B&W and Classe audio setup. It was a HT room, if I remember correctly, but I don't think it would fit 17 people. I mean I can ask, but we would be basically taking over the store for the time we would be there so I am not sure how thrilled they would be doing something like that. Plus, I am sure that we would want to really have fun with the subs and I don't know how happy a store would be with us connecting and disconnecting gear and running their system near reference level all day . But, I can still ask.
P.S
I just remembered that I don't think he is in the store on Mondays. I will send an email tomorrow. Nothing promised though.
I can fit 7. Equipment is on rolling rack so playing with amps etc would be fine. Subs are wired in the front LCR plane and rear corner (not used).
Now others can stand or sit in on floor.

I'm still down of course. Haven't had much chance to really crank the caps lately so it would be nice to get them out and let loose.

Mike - let me know if you have any luck contacting the store. If i remember correctly they have fairly short hours on saturdays so maybe that would help. I'd definitely be down for that. I could help coordinate also.
If I get a reply, I will post it first thing.
Is the guy you are trying to contact at Overture, Damien? He is a good guy but just an associate and really won't be able to make any decisions when it comes to deciding if we can have our little event. I remember he had to check with someone above him for me to just borrow a set of Focal XL's for a week and that can't be more than $1000 to them. If we can get this going ill definitely be making the 6 hour drive and ill bring my new creations with me whatever they end up being. The only thing that sucks now is that I don't have my MFW's anymore. I sold them to the guy that took over my lease. I would say invite him but the guy was a total ******* and was constantly showing up at my house uninvited before I moved out and this led to a confrontation when he showed up one time that I was in the shower and my girlfriend was the only one there to answer the phone. He didn't do anything threatening but I don't like my girlfriend to feel uncomfortable in any way and she had no idea who this guy was or what his intentions were. This led to me telling him to get off my property or I was going to call the cops. I was very close to forcibly throwing him off my porch which got me all worked up which I hate. If it only happened once that would have been one thing but on the 4th time showing up unannounced I had finally had enough. He even showed up at 8am the day I was moving out with about 6 other guys and just stood there watching us move which was extremely creepy and uncomfortable. I understand that he probably thought I was going to make off with all the HT gear I had sold him but it was just ridiculous. He accused me of taking things for no reason and cheating him I ended up just blowing town and not even completing the clean out of the house. I tossed him the keys and told him that he could finish cleaning since he and his squad of Pinkerton thugs were all there already.

I know you guys didn't need to know all this but I just had to tell someone what happened because i'm even getting all worked up right now just typing this out, but anyways that is why I was unable to host and why I am unable to bring my formerly owned MFW-15 dual opposed twins. Honestly I loved those beasts. I had two other single MFW-15's I had put in two 3cf boxes with plate amps but I gave one away to a friend who had helped me move and I kept one sub which is currently in storage in order to get me going when I start to rebuild my new system. If anyone has any good deals on gear they wanna get rid of then send me a PM...I need everything at this point sans subwoofers because I'll be building those on my own.
Mpray, just so you know, it is not the guy you mentioned. My guy has received my emails and will get back to me with some info, one way or the other, at some point.
I would be more than happy to host, but I am afraid of the neighbors being disturbed, I have another idea, but I have to find out first if I can use another place.

Talk to them ahead of time and let them know what you plan on doing and ask them when a good day to do this would be. Maybe your neighbors are planning a trip soon.

Yes....a long long trip.

Depending upon where this gets held I'm still interested. Frankly I was a little bummed it had to be cancelled originally, so if at all possible I'd like to salvage it.
