I want to split a cat5 cable coming from Russound vm output so it would send the same signal to 2 Tv's, if i do this would it work or would the picture be distorted?

I was thinking something simple like this (below)

The splitter is almost free so try and find out. I doubt it would work though. You probably would need some sort of signal amplification.

I have no idea what a Russound VM is but... if the signal is analog or baseband u *may* need some kind of amplification but try it out it wont hurt.

If the signal is digital and IP addresses required then a simple splitter wont work.

True no harm in trying i suppose, i was just asking as i didn't want to be completely wasting my time

It just sounds to easy and simple for it to work ha, nothing is that easy for me

Russound VM (Video Matrix) has cat5 outputs to Component Wall Plates.

OK looks like baseband analog so it should work, but whether it works good, it DEPENDS (yes, that word again) on signal strength and cable length. Me, I just go to my tool shed and get such adapter, every man should have a collection of assorted cables and adapters in the man-cave

ha Lets hope so, worth a try anyway but does sound like its almost to easy of a solution , waiting on my russound VM1-4 to come picked it up for a nice 230 euro on ebay.

Gonna distribute my SKY HD, PS3, Xbox360 and Apple TV can't wait.

heres a question, my home is wired with cat5 UPT Cable will this be ok to carry the signal of the Russound Video Matrix, i just seen now sometimes it says Cat5 and others say Cat5e?? im confused....

this is my cable

More than likely, yes, the cat 5 cable will do just fine. Cat 5 cable is no longer a recognized cable, cat 5e replaced it, but for 10/100 Ethernet and video applications, it should be fine.

You'd be double terminating the source, so the amplitude at each load will be lower.

so in my language using the splitter will work but the sign will not be as good?
