First off, a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped me out in my 5.1/2.0 hybrid setup thread. I ended up going with a pair of Paradigm Atom Monitor 7's, ditching the center channel (for now). Their sound is simply amazing.
Now, my next question. I have my Dad's old Fisher MT-725 direct-drive turntable, which is probably 30-40 years old. All of the mechanicals seem to be in very good condition, but Im sure the needle/cartridge needs to be replaced. What I don't want to do, however, is drop $100-200 on a new cartridge when I can get a nice new/gently-used entry-level turntable (Music Hall-esque) in the $300-400 range. That said, which option would better serve me:
1) Purchase new cartridge for Fisher turntable.
2) Use existing cartrdige for time being, and save up a bit more $ for Music Hall turntable.
3) Other (make recommendation)
Ideally, Id obviously like to keep using the Fisher since it still works well. That said, is there any WORTHWHILE cartridge in the $25-75 range that I can purchase for it?
Thanks so much!
Matt
