This isn't a deal, it is their SOP. If you call customer service and talk it out with them they will give you this deal. I got it months ago and didn't mention a deal or anything like that. It just seems to be their response to their increasingly failing product, which is semi-commendable.

Ok, my 60gb died and I'm opting for the $99 trade to the slim 160gb, only problem is i did the hairdryer thing and its now working, so did the back up and am waiting for my return box. Now from what I read this hairdayer fix is not a long terrm fix but I'm still sending imy 60gb in for repair. Sony already but a charge on my card so I hope they'll not return my old 60 if it works when they get it.

Thanks. People gave a lot of crap on the 360's RROD, and rightly so but fat PS3 is just the same, they WILL die sooner or later.
