Open it, crank it to reference and prepare to be blown off your couch!!!!!! eek.gif This IMO was one of the most entertaining blu ray experiences I have had in some time (well Oblivion also). BLISTERING audio track! The film itself was WAY better than the first as well IMO. Not a dull moment and just a TON of fun. If you don't end up liking it though, it's Franin's fault and this post never happened....... tongue.gif
I could not agree more Franin! Your posts are what got me to Redbox this today. Thanks! smile.gif

No worries. No one listens to Oink.tongue.gif

I do loves me a good audio tour de force. Bartender. Make mine a double. Go Joe!

Review:

Rent from Redbox.
Fast forward to Snake-eyes vs 100 Red Ninja's on the mountain.
Return to Redbox.

That scene alone may be worth $1.50 rental

Dont watch the other crap. Well Lady Jay is okay too.

You make it sound like it would be a BAD thing.....

Drinking suds on the sunny banks of the mighty Deschutes River...nothing finer.

Send me a PM regarding when you guys need to be picked up at the airport.wink.gif

Are the Red Carpet car washes still alive and well in Bend? I worked at one of those when I lived there almost 20 years ago. Loved Bend and love Oregon in general. smile.gif

Yep, they are still there:
http://www.redcarpetcarwashbend.com/

Oregon has a lot going for it: clean air and water, low crime, not so crowded, great outdoor sports and scenery....
If you get back out this way, lemme know....I'll buy ya a beer.wink.gif

BTW, love your new avatar.biggrin.gif

Thanks Oink! I will definitely look you up when I make it back out there. I still have one of my Red Carpet work shirts!

Appreciate the avatar compliment. That picture might be my favorite piece of Grateful Dead art and it represents my mental state well these days! tongue.gif

A little late to the party with this one but finally watched it last night. It is what it is and my expectations were not high going in but I don't think this is as good as the first one. And the presentation was weird in a way I'm not sure how to explain. Pull the language and level of violence out of it and in many, many ways it seems like it would fit right in to the late afternoon school shows on Nick or something. Many of you parents of 8-11 year olds might know what I mean. It's also weird for me to get disoriented during action scenes. When the went in on their first mission to get the warhead, I couldn't tell where they were going in the facility. It may sound silly but it's like there is a map or floor plan in my head during movies like this and I know what's where. This one I felt no sense of direction. Same with fight scenes. It was almost like they started shooting some scenes in one location and finished those same scenes in another location or a different part of the soundstage or something.

It was "pretty" to look at and generally fun to watch but I didn't feel like it was quite as good as the first and I didn't feel like they offered anything new other than names/call signs. They claimed that it's release date was pushed back to convert it to 3D but I'm not buying that. I feel like the movie was a jumbled mess and they knew it and refined to to "improve" it, which if true REALLY makes me wonder what it was beforehand.

I can't fathom what anyone found to like in the first movie.

Allegedly, the "Extended Action Cut" available at Walmart is the version of the movie that was supposed to be released in 2012. It's about 13 minutes longer. A couple storylines are expanded or moved around, and there are a bunch of little changes here and there, but nothing too significant that would cause you to change your opinion of the movie.

Well, renting it (mainly for my kids) was enough. And like the first one, turning on a broadcast of it as background noise is sufficient for me from here on out. Like I said, I didn't have high expectations going in, which is fine but to me this one still came up a tad short.

What was to like about the first one? I was a Joe fan of the toons and toys as a kid. It's fun to see the characters "brought to life" on the big screen like Transformers. Ninja's, military, weapons, bad guys with masks and bad a$$ girls in the mix to boot....hey, I'm a guys guy and like those things. It's a movie based on a toy line so it's not like anyone expects The Godfather going into it. Just a cool updated look and an adrenaline rush for an hour forty minutes. I feel the first did a little bit better with it.

As for the "extended cut action"....yeah, not buying it but that's just me.

The characters in Rise of Cobra are completely unrecognizable and have nothing to do with G.I. Joe. The director has even admitted that he didn't know G.I. Joe existed before he was hired for the job.

I didn't expect The Godfather, but I also didn't expect a giant pile of dog $#!+, which is what the movie turned out to be. It seems to me that there ought to be some alternatives between those two extremes.
