Connecting to a Synology DS211j via USB?

I wish to procure a Synology DS211j and use it as a NAS drive. Once setup and attached to my network, can I connect one of my computers to the DS211j via USB 2.0 and transfer files to it like other external USB hard drives?

Reason: I do a lot of HD recording using a MIT MDP-130. The files are edited using VideoReDo and saved to a 2.5" external drive via USB. This is almost as fast as when using a internal hard drive. I would like to replace the USB pocket drive (Sneaker net) with a NAS drive.

I am using the 211j for some time now, but I am not sure if you can use it as a USB Drive - you can connect USB drives and also connect a UPS via USB. Also, given that it can do 1gbit network why would you not use the (wired) network instead? Should be faster anyway.

Agreed that it should be faster, but it may not be so I would like to know the other options.

USB 2.0 has a max bandwidth of 480 Mbit/s
GBit ethernet has a max bandwidth of 1000 Mbit/s

Anyway - I just checked on the USB option. All USB ports on the DS211j are standard type A, and I don't actually have a USB bridge cable (that has A-plugs one both ends) so can't even connect it to the PC. Couldn't find any mentioning of it in the handbook either, so I would say it is a no-go out of the box.
You might however also want to check the synology forum: http://forum.synology.com/enu/

There is no mention in the manual I downloaded (covers several models of Synology) about connecting to a PC via USB.

I have posted this question on the Synology board.
