Advice on entry level receiver

I am looking to buy a new receiver as I sold my old JVC receiver. Could somebody advise?

My budget is $250.

I have the following speakers:

Polk Audio T15 - Front speakers 100 watts 8 ohm
KLH - rear speakers 100 watts 8 ohm
Kenwood - 100 watts 8 ohm
PINNACLE digital sub350 - 350 watts?

Could somebody suggest any receiver in my price range?. I have found some good deals for sony STR-DH150, Sony STR-DH810, Pioneer VSX-521-K. I am basically looking for a decent receiver with HDMI input/output to connect to my blu-ray player, cable TV and iPod.

You could pick up the Pioneer VSX-921 instead for $238 on Amazon. For a bit more, $299, the Denon 1612 can be had. Both are decent entry-level receivers.

Haha its funny, i just retired my JVC receiver 4 hours ago, and got a Denon 2805 to play with.

Thanks for your recommendations. I am impressed with the features of Onkyo Tx-nr509. The specs says that it has 80 W per channel. Is that enough to drive my 100 W speakers at high volumes?. Sorry if this question is too basic.

I also like Pioneer 921 though it is missing network capabilities.

I will wait and see for few more days if I can get any deals.

and you are right, 80 watts per channel driving your speakers at high volumes is not a very good idea.Do able, but i wouldnt, Sorry i forgot to look at the deep details.

I forgot to ask,
what is the primary use for your new receiver set up? ( music , sports? Movies? )
In my best opinion.
for music i prefer Pioneer or Marantz
but movies i like Denon

My denon's LFE doesnt pound as hard compared to my old JVC,

Thanks Joe. Mostly, I play music but I also watch movies every week end. With my new blu-ray player, I would like to have good 5.1 sound with HDMI output (not with a seperate optical cable). I also need speaker calibration setup (I believe most receivers have) including for my subwoofer.

I am not seeing any Marantz in my price range. If you know, could you please send me the model number

Pioneer (821 or 921) or Onkyo (509) and Yamaha are my other considerations.

Finally, I bought Pioneer 1021 K for $299 two days back. It arrived yesterday. I would like to set it up today
