Upgrading speakers / receiver

Thread Starter
I have the Energy Take Classic 5.1 connected to a Denon 791 AV receiver. I have been happy with both so far. Is it worth upgrading the speakers to Definitive Technology ProCinema 800? Or will the money be better spent on another receiver? I am only interested in sound, the rest of the features like number of hdmi, AirPlay, etc. are not relevant. My budget is around $1000. Thanks

Speakers sound characteristics are extremely subjective. So it depends if you like the sound of the DT's better than the Energy's.

This may also be the answer to your headphone thread.
