I am thinking of starting a home automation project at my parents' house for Christmas. I didn't know, except in some abstract sense, that this stuff was even possible for the DIY user until today.
I was wondering if there are any great resources and/or tutorials (besides these forums of course) that explain the various standards and showcase the potential of home automation technology.
I was thinking of doing 1 room first, by controlling 1 wall light switch, 1 plug in lamp, and possibly motorizing 1 window blind. If this goes well, and they like it, I would expand from there.
What would I need to get started?
