Greetings

As hardware ... works reasonable on some displays and really bad on others. Would never consider it for projection.

You're referring to the spyder 3 correct?

The package he was referring to here comes with a i1 Display Pro, which is fine for projector use.

I have a 50in Plasma and 32 LCD...looking to get the Samsung 7000 or 8000 in the near future.

Would u have any suggestions on hardware/software to get? The Calman seems like the right idea???

Well of course I would

I do a lot of the work on CalMAN.
I do think that the i1 Display pro + CalMAN is a great combination.

I don't think you'll find anything that will perform better for less money. Going up the C6 is more accurate than the i1 Display Pro, then you have to spend a lot more money (in the thousands) than a C6 to get increased accuracy out of a colorimeter.

Yup ... S3 ...

Thousands more to get accuracy better than the C6?

The i1 Pro spectro is under $1000 and is more accurate.

The Discus is $2000 and not thousand(s) more expensive. ($1300 maybe) :P

I did qualify a colorimeter, an i1 Pro is a different bag of tricks being a spectro and I was trying not to compare the two since they are sort of on different technological paths.

Yeah I guess $1300 isn't thousands more, just over a thousand, but it is 3x the price of a C6.
