It looks to me like some pretty big changes for the 2012's. Doing a comparison of the ST/GT/VT it may be that the GT offers the most bang for the buck. Hands on reviews are greatly anticipated.

My G10 has taken a dump and I can replace it under warranty. No real hurry to do so as I have other viewing options. I've been told by the guy at Sears that they expect the new sets in early April.
Based on the available specs that have been released should I wait for the new 2012's or get a 2011 now?

Will Sears allow you to wait for the new 2012 models to arrive?

And how much will their dollar allowance be toward the replacement? The 50GT30 for instance is roughly around $1200 right now and inventory is quickly dwindling, but when the 50GT50 is released in springtime it will probably MSRP for about $1800.

I will get $1800 credit.
My local store only has ST's left...55 and 65.
So my credit would cover the 2012 GT with no additional money.
Although I don't mind spending a bit more if it is worth it.
But then that begs the question....ST,GT or VT?
Although I don't think they will be stocking the VT.
Thanks for the input guys!

My understanding is that Sears will not have the GT series in store but may be carried online. They will not have the VT series. They may only have access to the ST series all together.

It's a little vague, but it looks like the GT may be available at Sears according to avj(see post 8511 in the insiders thread at hdj).

Is the 70-inch going to happen or not?

Holy Crap. Did you see the projected prices for the 2012 lineup at ENGADGET? I hope they injected a whole lot of KURO technology at those prices. And they didn't even include the 65" prices.

That's for the Japanese market, the American prices will be about the same as last year's models

Those are Japan prices.

The U.S. prices will all be at or lower than the 2011 prices.

That's a relief. On paper the GT looks like it might offer the best bang for the buck. If the features advertised actually make a difference in the PQ then this years GT looks like it might be the go to plasma. Time will tell.

I'll go out on a limb and guess the MSRP of the 2012s will be $100-$200 lower upon initial release than their 2011 counterparts were last year.

Here's a link to the original 2011 lineup's MSRP at time of release:

Randy as usual is correct on anything panasonic, but too optimistic with plasma.

The writing is on the wall. Plasma sale and volume will decline from 2011 onwards.

HD Guru leaked the pricing. Not sure if this is accurate but here it is:

Cut and paste the link:

Well I'm going to wait for the 2012 GT's to come out. They look pretty good on paper. Hope Sears will be stocking them.

I'm no prophet but neither is it rocket science.

That is why Panny closing their new P5 rather than older and smaller P4 speaks volume on their view for this tech. Not saying plasma will disappear this decade but we have to be realistic how much R&D will be invested into this tech.

Those prices are just from value electronics website which does not represent the MSRP, just VE's prices they're giving to preorder people. Im sure they're close though, some may be more some may be less. AVJ over at HDJ has already stated the 65VT50 will not be as low as $3999.99 MSRP.

Can anybody suggest some reputable Panasonic dealers to place a pre-order through? I bought my G25 through Modia.com , but not sure if they are offering a presale..

Thanks!

The first model will be available in under 2 weeks. Sooner than I thought.

I would wait a few months after release before buying. Prices will drop and you can let someone else find the early bugs.

I just hope the old bugs don't transition to the 2012's
