Hi, I recently purchased a Samsung T22A350 and I have 2 questions
QUESTION 1:
-------------
Does this monitor have a High Definition TV Tuner or a Standard Definition TV Tuner?
The specification does not seem to clarify.
Note: this forum does not let me post URLs, but the specs can be seen on samsung dot com @ /au/consumer/pc-peripherals/monitor/led-monitor/LT22A350AA/XY/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
Some websites seem to advertise this as a Standard Definition TV Tuner whereas others do not clarify (or seem to indicate that it is a High Definition TV Tuner).
When I contacted Samsung support, 2 different people told me it is only a Standard Definition TV Tuner and 2 other different people told me it is definitely a High Definition TV Tuner.
Correct me if I am wrong, but if the monitor can tune and display HD channels like ONE, ABC NEWS 24 & 7Mate etc (which it can) then it is a HD Tuner? or can SD Tuners still pick up these HD channels (but display them at a lower resolution)?
QUESTION 2:
-------------
Samsung has offered me a replacement model UA22D5000NM and I am trying to decide if it would be good to go ahead with the swap?
Note: this forum does not let me post URLs, but the specs can be seen on samsung dot com @ /au/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UA22D5000NMXXY/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=specification
It turns out that we will now use this monitor/TV as simply a TV in our kitchen so it's main purpose will now be as a TV (not really as a computer monitor).
If it turns out that the original Samsung T22A350 does indeed only have a Standard Definition TV Tuner then I will definitely do the swap.
If it turns out that the original Samsung T22A350 does indeed have a High Definition TV Tuner then decision to swap is less clear as the specifications seem very similar except for these differences (from what I can see):
+ TV Reception: T22A350 says "ready", whereas UA22D5000NM says "DVB-T" (I suspect that this is to do with Question 1 and HD TV Tuner)
+ Warranty: T22A350 has 3 year 0 pixel warranty, whereas UA22D5000NM has 1 year 3 dead pixel warranty (warranty is useful, but main concern is TV viewing quality)
+ Series: UA22D5000NM is Series 5, whereas T22A350 is Series 3 (not sure if this makes a big difference to TV viewing quality)
+ Video: T22A350 says Brightness of 250cd and Response Time of 5ms, whereas UA22D5000NM (this might have an impact on TV viewing quality?)
+ Screen Size: UA22D5000NM is 22", whereas T22A350 is 21.5" (for intended use, 0.5" difference is not a big issue either way)
Any advice on if it would be better to stick with the T22A350 or swap with the UA22D5000NM if the primary use is as a TV (or are they basically the same)?
