'Survivor: One World' Season 24 on CBS HD - Page 32

One more funny thing I just thought of that happened...

Some of the girls were talking about how Christina wouldnt be good in front of the jury because she wasnt well spoken.
I dont think I could of imagined how poorly spoken she really is until at the tribal when Jeff asked her why she didnt scramble more at the end.
I actually had to rewind the dvr and listen to her again.
Really pitiful.

(But she is pretty smokin hot...)

I was disappointed, too. Everyone was just willing to listen to anything Kim said and take her crap when she gave it to them. Christina just rolled over and died. WHAT?! Her response on the reunion show was pretty pathetic, as well.

I liked how Jeff even got something wrong (for once) and called on the wrong person to comment about the guys giving the girls the idol so they could vote one of their own out - clearly the dumbest move in recent seasons.

My top 3 survivor winners -

Tom (firefighter guy)
Parvati
Jenna

Kim did a great job of manipulating, but let's face it - her competition was so much weaker than in seasons past...

Even though Kim did win. She should of taken Christina, she would of gotten all the votes that way.

Did you see the extra secret footage of Colton doing a "Christina impression" with slanty eyes and buck teeth? Even though my dad was hardly progressive, he would have smacked my face for doing that, probably because he fought next to South Koreans.

It's funny that when the jury picks the right winner people complain it was too boring and predictable. When they pick a surprise winner, people complain that the jury was stupid and Survivor sucks!

There was yet another great thing this season: no FTC goat! For some reason Kim didn't play it safe and carry Christina or Alicia to the FTC to let them make fools of themselves (Christina's "Why do you hate people?" question showed her mind had been elsewhere). I bet she was having second thoughts after Chelsea gave her stand-up speech to the jury. I can see why she's in sales.

I normally don't watch those, but I just had to see what you were referring to. MEOW, talk about a cat fight.

The one after it, after they got over their fued and were getting ready for the next tribal, Alicia mentioned looking like Eva Longoria and now I have to say that is pretty spot on.

I think comparing players in different seasons is like comparing basketball players during the finals in different seasons. You can't. The circumstances are so different every year that their actual game is greatly influenced by the differences.

I will say Kim came close to a perfect game so given her opportunity she played as good or better than anyone could so she couldn't have been outperformed. Different circumstances perhaps different results... heck even bad players win at times... this season a good player was rewarded.
Kim dominated every phase of this game so thoroughly, I thought, that she simply made her opposition look bad. She was stunningly good at getting her fellow castaways to divulge, then to use that information to her advantage. Assessing and using Troy's distrust/dilike of Mike to gain her tribe a significant numbers advantage is one example; leading Alicia to believe she had "cleverly" uncovered Tarzan's double dealing is another. Maybe they and other were easy marks, but Kim played almost all of them so easily that some (Christina) would lay down in front of her and others (Chelsea) for her.

Aside from being smart and calm, she must be extremely personally charsimatic one-on-one in a way that doesn't quite translate to tv. (Sab and others spoke of it, but it doesn't really come across in dialogue.)

Excellent season. Once asshat Colton disappeared, the gameplay was on, and Kim is a very richly deserving winner. I would rank her with Yul as among the game's top winners (never saw the porn-star guy).

Could she have done so well with a group of stronger players? I don't know.

By some of the other players comments, Kim apparently had the ability to look you straight in the eye, lie to you, and you would believe it .. as well, it seemed to me that many of the other players never compared "notes" ..

I won't take anything away from Kim's play, however, I suspect you are right .. put her up against Parvati, Tom Westman, or Chris Daughetry (who was last man standing in Vanuatu with an all-female alliance) and the outcome would have likely been different ..

She was able to win because she was a great liar, did well on immunities and was up against a bunch of pretty weak players .. but it's still a win, none the less ..

Guess I was completely wrong about Colton being on the next season. It just seemed like that premise of people who never got to finish was set up specifially for Colton. Count me in the group that is glad he is gone. IMHO, Russell is more entertaining and interesting as a Survivor player than Colton.

Now since the premise was not an excuse to bring Colton back, I don't mind it as much.

Easily the hottest of the lot next to Chelsea. Christina looked stunning in the silver dress, at the reunion show.

Worst season ever for me. I still say it is the least intelligent group of castaways ever, also. Congratulations to Kim, she was just a little bit smarter than the people around her -- and that is all that was needed this season in her position.

I won't say this was a "bad" season, just not a great one. Survivor IMO needs good villians we can hate on, heros we can cheer for, and underdogs we can pull for. After Colton there were really no great "personalities" left.

I didn't even see Colton as a good villian but he did give us someone to "hate on" and it was nice to see him go out the way he did.

As much as people hate the "Russell" or "Colton" types it is exactly these types that make the show really fun to watch. IMO

Give me people that stir some kind of emotion! Make me hate them or love them but make me CARE, get me involved and invested.

This season was again OK at best for me.

Not for me. I rather enjoyed watching them execute their plan one stage at a time like clock work. Personally, I found Colton rather boring and overall the discourse and conflict appears to have been more viewer related... not so much within the game itself.

Damn, I was hoping Kourney would get another shot at it. But at least we don't have to suffer through Colton again.

AFA the Phillipines Islands are concerned, they better be really careful about what island they pick or they may create an international incident and end up in a real "survival" situation in communist China.

I am so glad they are changing it up and going to a different location. I would really like to see a bit more 'survivor' in survivor next time around.

I love the seasons where the contestents were really hurting for food, had rats running across them while they slept, had sunburn and bug bites, etc.

It just added one more element they had to overcome.

This was one of my least favorite seasons. My favorite winners are Boston Rob, Tom, Yul and Bob from Gabon. Good strategists, dominant players or players who overcome the odds to win.I was rooting for all my favorite winners to win.Even though Kim was the most deserving this season I never cared whether she won or not.I was actually hoping she would lose the final immunity to Christina just to shake things up.I also love a good villian whether it's Russell, Boston Rob, Richard or Randy. Along with big personalities like Phillip, Coach or even Cochran that are entertaining and make the season interesting.A big personality this season was Troyzan who I had to laugh when he claimed people were comparing him to Richard Hatch.

Hopefully they will have a better cast next season as this season only had Colton who came off like a nasty bigot. This season was pretty much over for me after Colton had to leave the game and the tribes merged.Kim had an idol that she never played and no one but Troyzan at the 11th hour seemed to want to try to make a big move.No one else tried to make a move and most players like Leif and Christina seemed content to be voted out when their time came.I remember Russell saying after the merge and Foa Foa was down in numbers that he was never going to stop playing and trying to stay in the game. Looks like Leif, Christina ect never watched Russell's first season.

I forgot about Yul. I really liked him.

Did I just miss it, or did Jeff not read the rest of the votes (or was that all of the votes)? It seems like every year he goes back afterward and reads the remaining votes... I couldn't believe that sweetheart Chelsea didn't get ANY votes?

He stopped reading them after Kim got to 5. He did ask for a show of hands who didn't vote for her, it was just Troyzan and Leif I believe.

It was the lowest rated Survivor finale, but that is probably as much about Survivor being long in the tooth as anything. An uncompelling cast put it over the top.

Some of my favorites were Brian, Parvati, Yul, Bob, Tom and of course the godfather of Survivor, Richard Hatch. Loved Russell's seasons, he was pure entertainment and all strategy all the time even if it was often reckless! On the advice of a few posters here, I checked out his A&E show, "Flipped Out" with his brother Shawn (Brandon's dad) and it is rather entertaining!

Hope they go back to picking folks that really want to win and not just make friends like Chlesea. Ok, they can keep Chelsea for eye candy. What surprises me if the love for Christina in this regard. I am usually partial to a beautiful Asian over a beatiful blonde, but I found something about Kat more alluring and Christina very ho-hum. Not that she was unattractive and just didn't turn the dial for me. Go figure...

Am I the only one who thinks that Chelsea may be gay? Anyone else with me on this?

Never thought so at all .... I think you might have her confused with Colton...

When she was talking about Tarzan's marriage, she said that he taught her what to look for in a "partner". But it wasn't only that. I was just getting a "vibe". No one else?

Kat looked alot better without all of that makeup, not into the owl eyes.

I personally thought that Christina played the "I'm accepting my fate" role as a part of her passive strategy to get to the final 3. You could tell by the look on her face as the votes were cast that she wanted to stay. If I remember correctly, didn't Colby (2nd time) do exactly the same thing succesfully? The little jab Christina threw at Sabrina, about doing little at challenges (and camp), threw Sab off her game enough that she came up with the totally lame "I did poorly on challenges on purpose" speech that may have cost her votes.

At the reunion show, Christina correctly pointed out that she was going nowhere but home by being assertive early so she had to adapt. Just think. She was on the outs in every single combination of players from day one. When you have 9 women on a team, is it harder for the girls in the 5 person alliance to survive, or the four that were left out? When the teams switched up, Colton should have taken her in as another "misfit" but mistakenly took Alicia (one of the original 5 girls) instead. So once again Christina was on the outside. Despite being insulted by Alicia repeatedly, Christina got back into her graces by her act of kindness when Alicia felt sick. Alicia then protected Christina after the merge because she thought Christina was her puppet. I think Christina would have jumped ship in a minute if she was offered a ride elswhere. Christna worked harder than Sabrina or Kat to get as far as she did.

I did wonder about Chelsea when Jonas said all the guys thought she was the cutest girl on the show. Her reaction made me wonder if she might indeed be a lesbian.
I don't know why they still do a Three person final. Has there ever been a three way split of the votes? I think it makes for a better final when the last challenge winner has to pick the person that they will go up against.
I thought the Kim played the game well and she is a good champion. The problem is she played with people who were on two extremes. They either made one bad decision after another or were so afraid to make any moves they watch the game move away from them.

Now as bad as a lot of them played I have to commend them for being an intelligent jury. There have been a lot of recent juries who could never recognized how their own poor play put them out of the game.
