Got my EP950 today. I can confirm mine has the 'right and down' screen offset issue. Also I am now doing a firmware reload due to the factory loaded firmware exibiting the files missing after shutdown issue.
Otherwise I am pleased with the performance over my older Realtek player. I will post back regarding the file
disappearing issue once I test the reloaded firmware
Hmm not good so far. Files copied over network are still disappearing
I will post any further discoveries later
Ok I am gonna try different file allocation unit sizes and see if that has anything to do with it.
Failing that I will try a format under windows xp since windows 7 and vista start the partition at a
different offset. Also I will check the permissions on the drive although I cannot imagine how it could be that.
It seems more to me like the box is storing the MFT changes in memory and not commiting them to disk
Ok looks like I might be wrong it might indeed be a permissions issue. I just did a test on a drive that I granted
Everyone rights to all files and folders on the drive and all files I copied stayed. Please note that I attached
the drive to my computer and changed the security permissions on the drive directly using an external enclosureNOT
while it was in the Micca
More testing with my main drive next
Ok so to simplify as best I can. I removed the drive from the micca and installed it in an external enclosure and plugged it into my usb port . I then went into My Computer and right clicked on the drive and went into properties and then clicked on security. It showed Administrators, Users and System as having full permissions. Well I clicked Edit to change the permissions then clicked add and typed in Everyone. I then ticked Full Control which enabled all the permissions and clicked ok. It then took a while to update all the files on the drive. I had to click ok for a few Items it could not change the permissions on but they were not files I cared about anyway. After it applied the permissions I just closed the properties window and ejected the drive, threw it back into the Micca and Woohoo my files are now staying put
I hope this works for somebody else and I am not just having dumb luck...
to test it I am gonna remove the permissions from my other drive now.
*Facepalm* the plot thickens, even with the permissions removed files are still staying. Trying a new angle will be back
Ok final note on this I cannot reproduce the issue now that it is resolved. the only thing I can say is that all
I did was reset those permissions and tell the Micca to add my drive to the media library. I am happy that it is working now but I swear to you before this I could not save files over the network to any of my drives that were plugged in internally. If this post helps anybody then great but I am sorry I could not pin down the issue 100% for the technical team
Oh one last note Please make sure when doing the Reload of the firmware to remove the internal and external drives. The only thing that should be plugged in to the Micca while updating the firmware should be the usb key.Edited by rypaul - 8/7/12 at 11:59pm
