I did the same thing and got the same results BUT I also created a folder on my win7 server titled "mounts" and then used the "disk management" tool to add a symlink to each drive within that "mounts" folder and now everything is easily accessible from one point. This also makes dealing with the drives easier across the network as I can just map a single drive letter from my normal PC to the mounts folder as well smile.gif

Previously on drives that I could not access I had to add the user EVERYONE under the security tab in order to gain access, even with "Password Protect" turned off.

well, this is weird, i enable NFS in mac lion, using wireless and micca shows NFS/autoscan/ my movies and plays very well .mts .mov .m4v etc , and now it also sees my previous w7 HANEWIN configuration 192.168.1.128 .nfs but can show any file from w7.

questions
1- i made a wrong configuration in hanewin (but xbmc see it in htpc same pc )
2- NFS doesn't support ntfs format
3- xbmc doesnt see mac osx lion server
4- in lion cannot share a external hd (kernel export failed, not support by fstype, ufsd_NTFS" (readdir)

Anybody has any recent communication with Jack@Micca or any Micca rep? Left an EP950 for the recall in Fairfax and multiple emails through Amazon are still unanswered. No replacement received.
Are they on vacation maybe?

It's been awful quiet in here - haven't heard from Jack in a while and no word on any updates.
I cannot get DTS-MA to play at all. Everytime I try to play a title with DTS-MA, the video stutters terribly. This doesn't matter if the 24p mode is on or off, it stutters and doesn't play any audio. I have the HDMI set to RAW, when set to AUTO it just outputs PCM. Am I the only one that can't play DTS-MA? Oh and my Micca has recently started to freeze on boot almost every other time I turn it on now... Very annoying.
Search in this thread for how to get it to work, there was a trick posted. I have also begun turning my Micca on before EVERYTHING else and letting it get completely booted up, then the AVR gets power and then the JVC gets power. Doing everthing in this order gives me DTS-MA and 24p while watching movies. When I go into the menu it goes back to 60 like it supposed to.

I agree. May be there are quiet because they are looking into replacing Realtek since there are rumors that they are not longer making the 1185 / 1186 chips.

best player i ever had
almost 2 months use and is working perfectly.

just had 2 more blu-ray 3D titles and its absolutely brilliant, i guess some have more lucky than others, or the configuration is more appropriate in some cases, i read the manual over and over, countless times and try every single config possible to make sure what does what.

it works with a mouse
it works with a keyboard
it works with crossover cable connect to a pc
it works sharing movies in workgroups from windows
it works from nfs using a NAS

the micca is a stunning machine.
i have 9 terabytes full with 7tb of blu-rays connect to it , and it takes about 3 minutes to get ready from a cold start, after that is blazing fast .

I've already done that, I don't even need 24p on as my tv doesn't do it. No matter what DTS-MA doesn't play.

"Panasonic tc-p42s2 HDMI inputs don't work anymore?"

is this your tv ?
its difficult how to guess why you don't have dts-ma? how about some explanation regarding your equipment and connections?

1- you need hdmi 1.3 or 1.4
2-you need av receiver to decode dts-ma
3- you need a bu-ray with dts-ma track
4- you need to rip a blu -ray using dvdfab or anydvd using a pc/mac to a hard drive (try a iso uncompressed blu-ray 1:1)
5- micca don't decode anything, including dta-ma , micca is sending the audio and the video to the av receiver in bitstreaming.

if you don't provide any details about your hardware and connections its useless saying you don't have dts-ma in micca.

looking forward to hear from you

i was able to put NFS working in MICCA EP950 and playing blu-ray in perfect conditions

you need

pc w7 > cat5 > router
micca > cat5 >router (my router is linksys e4200)
hanewin software (trial 30 days)
firewall > turn off

1- turn off windows firewall

2-install hanewin > go to NFS > increase max streaming to 65355 > apply > go to export > edit export file > example: k:\ -readonly > restart server (k:\ is your hard drive)

3- go to micca > file manager >nfs > autoscan > and your hard drive will show up( example what you will see : k( your .pc. ip. address).nfs

important

A) sharing internal hard drive in hanewin from pc to micca every iso blu-ray 1:1 will be streaming 100% with subtitles

B) sharing external hard drive 2.0/ 3.0 in hanewin from pc to micca every dvd with dolby digital, music , etc will be streaming 100% except BLU-RAYS ISO..... it will shutter from external usb connect to pc

C) NFS dont support JUKEBOX

currently I'm testing with a crossover cable pc to micca , and at later date, i will test with a lian-li ex503 streaming blu-ray from external esata enclosure.

note: using NFS for mac osx lion (ethernet >router)for sharing files from external hard drive is limited by apple .

I know what is required to play DTS-MA or Dolby TruHD...

Like I said before, when DTS-MA is supposed to be passed through from the Micca, the video stutters terribly. There isn't even any sound emitted because the video is being played back so slowly. I've been trying to troubleshoot it but I have not succeeded obviously. I'm assuming that the firmware needs to be updated to fix this. I'm wondering when/If that will happen.

What type of movie format / file are you having problems playing? Also have you tried a different formats? The only movie format I've had issues playing was a few BD movies ripped with MakeMKV. However, I re-ripped them using ClownBD as M2TS file, and I don't have any issues streaming that.

MKVs and Blu Ray isos, It doesn't matter which file for my player. It still chokes on them.

What type of receiver are you hooked up too?

what is you av receiver model?

it seems your tv Panasonic tc-p42s2 doesn't support 1080p/24hz , i guess you need to change the settings in micca .

try this settings in micca:

1080p/24hz turn off
tv system > hdmi >1080i 50hz or 1080i 60hz

I wish we could hear some news or updates on the Micca either way. Where did you hear about Realtek discontinuing the 1186 chips? I'm just curious because I'd like to read more about that actually. I'd hate to think that Micca is abandoning this player already when the firmware still needs work. And what would they replace the chip with? If Realtek comes out with a newer chip I imagine it would take months before it would be incorporated into new players.

Thanks for that link. Very worrying - nothing like having only one flavor.

Just checked Amazon and they seem to have more players available through Micca but the price went up $20.

I really hope Micca continues to support this player with firmware until the bugs get ironed out (3D framerate, forced subtitles, freezing on boot screen at startup, etc).

Yeah, I was waiting for Micca to fix those issues as well, but I got tired of waiting. I found a PCH-A210 for sale, and I was able to get it for $120.00, and from what I can see it looked brand new. The guy I bought it from used it for a few months. So, I ended up buying it.

Sure it does! Just make sure that have chosen "BB Code Editor" as your default reply editor in My Profile/Edit Account Details. It won't work with the Rich Text Editor.

EP950 is back on Amazon, but with price jump to $170. Was expecting it to go the opposite direction if any change.

I doubt Micca does any dev work on the firmware in terms of playback, Almost all realtek solutions are turnkey, You get whatever realtek gives you and you usually have 1 or 2 devs to work a UI around it. Hence all the realtek players suffer the same types of issues if its for playback. So if realtek is bowing out there will be no fixes in that aspect coming to any of the solutions out there And this might be why its went quiet.

what is up with the subtitles? I have never watched avatar with subtitles on to know if thats how it its supposed to be but why are they not in the middle of the video and they seem to change positions start at 10:22 and each sentence shifts to the right with every new line

HiMedia builds Micca's firmwares I believe, but yes, all of Realtek's streamers generally have the same issues.
