I am looking for a good quality player that can handle CD, SACD, DVD, BR and that has a digital input (preferably SPDIF).
Here's what I am trying to do:
I want to hook up my I-devices (Ipod / Ipad) to one of a handful of digital docks (Wadia 171i or Onkyo ND-S1) that are able to access the digital files (lossless ALAC) while bypassing the DAC of the I-device completely.
The 'normal' next step, is then to hook the dock up to an outboard DAC.
High-end audio magazines report excellent results from such a setup.
My thinking: if there was a good BR/universal player (like the OPPO or something) with a digital IN, I could forego the cost of the DAC (at least for now).
Thoughts anyone?
