does Toshiba still make the Regza line?

has Toshiba discontinued the Regza line? I hope not since that "top of the line" model (in various screen sizes) was a spectacular product.

a few questions.....

If discontinued, what has replaced it?

Technically, what made Regza different from the standard Toshiba HDTVs? Was it the 14bit processor?

How would you personally compare the Regza with other top of the line brands such as Sony, Samsung, Panasonic etc?

thanks

I think they have. I have a Toshiba 52lx177 regza I bought in 08 and it has been a spectacular Tv. I don't think they have anything high end anymore.

the Regza line still exists, but the branding is no longer used in North America, and Toshiba doesn't market its highest-end sets here. The last high-end Regza they marketed in the US was the SV670u (2009).

Toshiba does not make Top LCd's (and they do not make Local Dimmings).

The 2011 digitalversus review of the Toshiba top of the line was very negative, especially the fact that it was a Edge Lit was not well received. Quote ''Edge Led sucks!!!'' ''All three of us were unanimous: to be perfectly honest, we'd still rather have a decent Full LED TV-even a 2D-only model!''( the Toshiba ZL2 is a 4K Glasses free 3D TV). http://www.digitalversus.com/toshiba...ns-n20878.html

The Toshiba ZL1 is a 2010 Local dimming - only sold in a few countries, i read somewhere they where sold in Italy and Spain and a few other places. Whats the use of a state of the art Local Dimming if there is no place where you can buy it And it did not win any awards, didit

Take a look at the CNET top 5 Flatscreens 2011, a Toshiba is not one of them and you won't find a Toshiba in a top 5 LCDs 2011 either.

wow, that's really sad if they don't sell new Regzas anymore in the US - but do in other nations (Japan certainly as they have the new 3d $11,000 there). Very strange marketing decision.

The "REGZA" name was dropped because Toshiba has decided not to manufacture their televisions anymore. All Toshiba televisions sold in stores are now made by Compal, a Taiwanese OEM maker. Toshiba already sold their last TV factory in Mexico to Compal last year on July 2011. So, the "REGZA" name is permanently dead.

Hi Walter! Long time, no read. I'm glad to see you're still keeping up with the manufacturing aspects of Toshiba and conspiracy theories.
