Picking up the UN60D8000 today, question about game lag and DNLA from a Mac

Hello everyone...

Im gonna pick up the UN60D8000 today after work and had a couple of quick questions. I did search this forum for a couple of days and there is so much info it is overwhelming!

Ill be hooking it up to a Denon AVR-2112ci. Im also running a PS3, U-Verse and an AppleTV but if I can get DNLA working reliably with my Mac, the ApplyTV will be heading upstairs. So...

1. I thought I saw a lag test in one of these threads that helped calibrate game lag, but now I cant seem to find it again. Any suggestions on how to test and fix lag issues if they exist?

2. I currently stream 720p to my AppleTV flawlessly. However Ive been on the hunt for a DNLA client to send 1080p content to my PS3 (and soon the Samsung). I tried PS3 Media Server and have mixed results. I downloaded Serviio last night and tested it, it seemed to work very well for about an hour then I was hit with some weird error message and stuttering video.
My question is, does anyone here have a reliable DNLA server that can stream 1080p content to the D8000 without any issues?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

So am guessing u want to stream 1080 flawlessly too via WIRELESS?

Gonna give u the short answer 'cause I answered too many the same already.

Most of us here will strongly suggest u go WIRED. If u insist wireless then up to u to troubleshoot. The variables for WIFI are signal strength (distance) and link quality (environmental) that affects ur throughput.

I do WIRED from day#1, 1080, and it's like driving a cadillac, smooooooth.

Nope MrBobb, I have my AppleTV wired. Im with you. I have a 50 foot cable running right to my router. No need to spend weekends trying to figure out why my crap aint workin! LOL.

So what do you use to stream your caddi, I mean content? LOL

Groovy.

I happen to use serviio also, works good on my win2003 server, *only* a PIII machine, client is a Sammy LED. Once in a while it would loose network connection and I think I blame the Sammy because last time I reboot my server, nothing, and it only got going again until I turned the TV off and back on. Otherwise while playing, no studder, nuthing, and am on a *only* 100mbit LAN.

Oh good deal. Well I hope I have good luck with the Sammy streaming. Im not a huge fan a physical media! LOL

Now I just need to figure out how to have 1080p files that will play on both the AppleTV and the Sammy. I dont want to have 2 copies of every movie if you know what I mean. Im already pushing the limits of my hard drive storage! I think I read somewhere that the AppleTV will play 1080p files it will just convert them down to 720p for playback. Ill need to look into this further.

So does anyone have any input on the game lag?
