The multi-viewer, glasses free 3D could also be huge if it works as advertised.

I was aware of the Toshiba...mentioned it on another thread. I was unaware of any other 4K2K display.

I prefer passive to active shutter...it's brighter, and if you have 4K to begin with, it's a winner.

Saw Avatar both with active shutter and on a 4K digital projector with passive. Passive was much better.

Saw Hugo yesterday in 4K passive...amazing. Amazing technically, and superb as a movie.

With news of the 945 sets apparantly being delayed and/or in jeopardy, are we putting the "90-inch-in-2012" rumor to rest as dead?

Trying to justify keeping my wallet in my pocket on the 80LE844 next month but hard to find anything new on whether the 90" is even still alive at this point...

I went to a store where one of my friends works this past weekend. He told me that the Sharp sales representative told them that a 90 incher was coming later this year. I almost bought the 80LE632 but decided to wait and see how the new 80LE844 compares... And now I think I'll wait a bit more to see if the 90" comes out. My friend told me the cost would be near 10k Can... I don't know if he got that price from the Sharp representative but if it's right I hope it'll be coming with local diming packed in!...

I certainly wouldn't rule out a 90" this year. The pieces to make it happen are largely in place and the logistics of a 90" (vs. a 100" or larger) are somewhat easier to achieve.

Sharp is a mess, but they understand that owning the 70" and up segment is a chip in the big game and one they have the opportunity to control for a long time.

4k resolution or bust.

Sales people around here were told September. I hope they're right.

I'm really really tempted by the 80LE632... because it's here now and bigger than my 65". I went to see it again today at lunch time and I liked what I saw + it gets very good feed back here in the forum... But I have room for that 90"...

I. Must. Resist.

Nope. A wide variety of easily obtained source material at that resolution is years away at best.

Note the words "wide variety" in that sentence, I'm not talking about the half-dozen nonsense releases they'll do late in 2013, if it's even that high.

I'm talking about easy availability of hundreds of top titles, otherwise I'm not interested. Late 2014 minimum before that happens, and even that is likely to slip.

I need to print that out and put it on my desk to resist the siren call of the 80"...

How far away for seating to avoid sde?

If I hit the lotto I might buy a $2,000 LED TV, I am semi-retired in a small cottage
in Seadrift,Tx. I got a great deal on a new 32" Sharp LCD 720p 60 Hz tv. Less than
$275,00 from BB. Then I'd build a home around my entertainment room!

So? When are we going see the 90"? Is it comming or not? Anybody read anything new on this?
I was BB last week and they had an info sheet that had a 90" 745 series Sharp on it. No date or price, but it was in their system. Specs said full array LED with 3d.

I wish it was a 945...

Cool! Not too far away.

I want a bigger TV... bigger than the 65" I have now, bigger than the 72" I had before that... BUT, with deep blacks too! So I guess it will come down to either a 90" with no dimming or a 80" (Elite 2?) With local dimming!

And I have WAF on my side!... at the cost off a trip to Disney but hey, with the kids that'll be cool too!

For now I enjoy everyday reading of all the sharp threads and keep dreamin' of bigger HDTV with...
no floating blacks,
no dull fullscreen whites
no false contouring,
no buzzing,
no stuttery motion with 24fps movies or 30fps videos,
no double frames with 30fps gaming (or at least less visible),
no image retention...

I went to my local dealer today and asked the salesman if he had heard something about an upcoming 90" sharp. He wasn't aware of any 90" coming out this year. Then he checked in his computer and we indeed saw a 90" 745 in the list. No price yet.

$8999 is my guess for a 90" non local-dimming Sharp.
Considering you can get the Sharp 80" with 3D for around $4500 street, I would guess lower. $7995 MSRP with a street price around $6995.

I would have to agree with this. We shall see shortly. One of my sharp reps told me 30 days last week. I sure hope he is right! No one can compete with sharps glass plant. I wish they would make a huge plasma in the same price range.
According to futureshop.ca, the 90" will run for 9999

Yeah, but that's 9999 Canadian Remember when saying that actually meant something. Few other sites already have it listed for pre-sale at around $8500 Canadian so that is about $8K in the US. Within 3 months probably around 7.5

Manufacturing cost seem to go up higher and higher as a unit gets bigger. I guess we will see soon enough
