Seems like it would be a bit more logical to just wait until there are a number of games that just don't run right, than to preemptively run out and buy the highest end card imaginable, "just in case". Of course, this is coming from somebody that is in the lower income brackets. If you have crazy cash to spend, then sure... why not?

I am really impressed by the Sapphire 7950 OE card. Load noise levels and temps are quite low even when overclocked further. It looks like a great choice for those whose case can optimally handle the cooler's open design.

Wow, $450 for a x50 card. They're a hundo high on both of their 7900 models. All I can think is that they'll keep the prices high until the NVidia comes out with better performance at similar pricing and then drop pricing dramatically. If they don't this will be a very lost generation of product for them.

Nvidia has been a little too quiet on what they will offer in the coming months. They probably aren't too concerned if supplies for the new AMD cards remain low.

Well the 7750 should be here this week at $125 or less and less than 50 watts. That should be the killer HTPC card - with GPU acceleration coming to HTPC applications.

Y'know, I'd like it to be less too, but contrary to popular belief, AMD is supposed to try to make a profit. When supplies are low anyway, and they can't even keep up with demand, it would be economic idiocy to price the card even lower to try to increase demand. When yields increase and they start having a significant number of cards sitting in inventory, then it might be time to try to increase demand by lowering the price a bit. The performance is about on par with a 580 though (higher in some games, lower in others), with about 1/2 the power usage. So arguably a better card then the 580 for a few bucks less. It seems like it's priced appropriately for it's slot in the market.

Hopefully, Nvidia's card will offer even more performance at the same price point when it comes out, which would cause AMD to drop their prices to maintain demand. I wish Kepler would come out sooner though.

I've ordered the 7970 and from what I am reading in the reviews, I can do 1080p 60fps 3D over HDMI 1.4 as long as I am using the DDD TriDef software? I already have (and love) the TriDef software that I use for 3D games that don't require high FPS. I use a Panasonic AE7000 projector, so I should now be able to get 1080p 3D at 60fps in frame packing mode?

Or does my projector also need to support this new version of HDMI 1.4?

The projector needs the the new 300mhz port processor, hate to say it.

Figures. Oh well, guess I'll stick to 3D only with games that don't need high FPS.

Yeah I got a Sapphire 7850 OC'd for $250 (Awesome Card) to replace my 5850 so I could have DX11. I replace every 2 cycles.

I bit. Couldn't resist the Sapphire Dual X 7970 for $459. Curious to see how it handles 5760x1080 compared to my 570's.

Great. Very good upgrade for me. Almost all games showed improvement, especially games like Skyrim that was Vram bottlenecked with my 570's. I'm seeing up to 2500 MB of Vram usage is some areas. I'm running it at 1200 mhz core, and it is fast! Very quiet also, runs a bit cooler and definitely quieter than my 2 570's did.

Really a great GPU at that price point!
